NFL Week 6 features a classic NFC showdown on Sunday Night Football. The Packers and Cowboys are two historic franchises with plenty of championships, and they’ll square off in Green Bay. The Packers are listed as 1.5-point home favorites, while the total sits at 51.5 points.

The Cowboys were expected to be significantly improved on defense this season, but that hasn’t been the case so far. They continue to cede points in bunches, which is the biggest reason why they’re just 2-3.

Meanwhile, the Packers have seemingly righted the ship after a subpar start to the year. They’ve won back-to-back games, albeit against Jalon Daniels and Tyson Bagent.

Can the Packers keep the win streak going, or will the Cowboys get back to .500? Let’s dive into all the betting angles for Sunday Night Football.

Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys Betting Odds For Week 6

  • Spread: Packers -1.5 (-105; DraftKings)
  • Moneyline: Packers -118; Cowboys -102
  • Game Total: 53.5

Let’s start with the Packers. They started the year just 1-2, and their lone win could’ve very easily been a loss. They needed overtime to get past the Jets, and they became the first team since 1941 to win a game with less than 200 yards of total offense, a negative turnover differential and more than 100 penalty yards.

They didn’t look much better in their win over the Buccaneers in Week 4. They had just 17 points and 283 yards of total offense, but their defense managed to get them across the finish line.

The offense finally had a breakout performance last week vs. the Bears. Jordan Love was phenomenal, completing 25-of-31 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns, while MarShawn Lloyd added two scores on the ground. Christian Watson and Matthew Golden both eclipsed 120 receiving yards, and the team cruised to an easy victory.

The big question is, how real was that performance? The matchup certainly could’ve played a part. Chicago hasn’t been awful defensively this season, but their offense sabotaged them vs. Green Bay. They had five turnovers, which allowed the Packers to run away with things.

The good news is that it shouldn’t matter vs. Dallas. Their defense has shown zero signs of improvement compared to last year, despite the amount of resources they’ve poured into it. They’re currently dead last in EPA per play defensively, so the Packers should have some success on that side of the ball.

That said, the Cowboys should be able to move the ball as well. Their offense hasn’t quite been “elite” this season (seventh in EPA per play), but they’re doing more than enough to win games. Before last week’s contest, they scored at least 31 points in three straight from Weeks 2 through 4.

Last week was also clearly a bad spot for Dallas. They were playing their third game in 12 days, and the Buccaneers were sandwiched between matchups vs. the Ravens, Texans, Packers and Eagles. It’s very possible that the Cowboys got a bit complacent and looked past the Buccaneers without Baker Mayfield. Expect to see a much better representation of the Cowboys’ offensive firepower in this contest.

Prediction & Pick For Packers vs. Cowboys Week 6 Matchup

  • The Pick: Cowboys ML (+100; FanDuel)

This feels like a perfect opportunity to buy low on Dallas and sell high on Green Bay. The Cowboys’ stock is at an all-time low after their showing vs. the Buccaneers, while the Packers’ stock is inflated following their win over the Bears. While it’s possible that Green Bay has turned the corner, the Bears ultimately lost that game more than the Packers won it.

The Cowboys will have the benefit of some added rest after playing on Thursday Night Football in Week 5, and they should be completely focused coming off a loss. Dak Prescott is just 27-25-1 ATS for his career when losing the previous game, but he’s a perfect 2-0 in that split so far this season.

The Cowboys’ defense also has the potential to improve moving forward. Joey Porter is listed as questionable, but he was able to practice all three days this week. As long as he suits up, it should see his largest workload since being acquired from the Steelers before Week 4. It gives them a legit No. 1 corner to combat the duo of Watson and Golden. The Packers still have the worst rushing attack in football, so if they can limit Green Bay through the air, they should be able to pick up the win.

Best Player Prop Bet For Packers vs. Cowboys

Tucker Kraft Under 50.5 Receiving Yards (-114; DraftKings)

Kraft is coming off one of his best performances of the season last week, finishing with 64 yards vs. the Bucs. It was just his second game this year with more than 42 yards, and it’s certainly possible that he does it again vs. Dallas.

However, the Cowboys have actually defended tight ends pretty well this season. They’ve allowed just 48.2 receiving yards per game to the position, which ranks in the top half of the NFL.

Kraft also had just five targets last week, and his target share sits at 17% for the year. He is a clear No. 3 option in the passing attack behind Watson and Golden, so 50.5 receiving yards feels too high.
