DraftKings NFL DFS Picks For 49ers vs. Commanders Showdown Slate
Matt LaMarca breaks down how to approach the Monday Night Football showdown DFS slate between the Niners and Commanders on DraftKings.
On paper, Monday Night Football looks like a mismatch for NFL Week 6. The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the league’s best teams through five weeks, and they’re listed as 7.5-point home favorites vs. the Washington Commanders. The total sits at 52.0 points, so we can expect a fair bit of scoring.
That’s not a huge surprise for the 49ers. Their offense has been elite to start the year, and they currently rank second in the league in EPA per play. They’re third in points per game (30.8), and they could easily surpass that figure vs. the Commanders.
Washington has been more of a mixed bag, but they have moved the ball well at times this season. They’re coming off a humiliating tie vs. the Giants last week, but they built a 14-point fourth-quarter lead before the wheels came off.
Let’s dive into some of my favorite NFL DFS picks for 49ers vs. Commanders.
Stud Picks For The 49ers vs. Commanders NFL DFS Showdown Slate
Brock Purdy ($10,800 Flex, $16,200 Captain)
Is it possible that Purdy is the NFL MVP? That feels weird to say, but he currently trails only Josh Allen in terms of MVP odds. He’s posted a ridiculous 9.2% touchdown rate through his first five games, and he’s averaged an elite 9.6 adjusted yards per attempt. He also leads the league in Success Rate and QBR.
For fantasy purposes, Purdy currently ranks second at the quarterback position. He scored at least 22.1 DraftKings points in each of his first three games before cooling down with 19.62 and 17.16 in his past two. However, those two matchups were against the Broncos and Seahawks, respectively. Those are two of the most intimidating defenses in football.
This week’s opponent should present no such test. Washington’s defense currently ranks 23rd in EPA per pass, and they’ve allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. In terms of Xfinity Fantasy Boost, no team has given a bigger bump to the position (+8.7) in our fantasy football DvP tool.
With all that in mind, it’s not surprising that Purdy stands out as the clear top option on the slate. He owns a higher projection than even Christian McCaffrey, despite checking in at a cheaper price tag.
Jayden Daniels ($10,000 Flex, $15,000 Captain)
Daniels will be at the helm for the Commanders’ offense, and he was excellent in his return from injury last week. He leaned on his biggest weapon: his legs. He racked up nine carries, which he turned into 103 yards and two touchdowns. Not many QBs are capable of doing that type of damage on the ground.
Daniels’ rushing ability is nothing new. He had seven carries and 69 rushing yards in just one half vs. the Cowboys in Week 2 before missing the second half due to injury. As long as he can stay on the field, Daniels is arguably the biggest rushing threat at quarterback in the current NFL.
Rushing ability has always been a cheat code for quarterbacks in fantasy football. Despite mediocre passing numbers last week (199 yards and zero touchdowns), Daniels still managed to rack up 35.26 DraftKings points. It gives him an elite ceiling, even in a tough matchup vs. the 49ers.
Daniels is also the rare quarterback who has historically fared well as a big underdog. He’s historically averaged better than 24 DraftKings points in seven career starts as an underdog of more than four points.
NFL DFS Value Picks For SF vs. WAS Showdown Slate
George Kittle ($8,200 Flex, $12,300 Captain)
Despite winning their first five games, the 49ers continue to deal with a host of injuries. Specifically, they’re getting pretty thin at receiver. Ricky Pearsall, De’Zhaun Stribling, and Demarcus Robinson are on IR, Deebo Samuel is out, and both Mike Evans and Christian Kirk are questionable. Evans was unable to practice for most of the week, so he could be on the wrong side of his questionable designation.
It leaves Kittle as one of the few healthy options for Purdy to lean on. The good news is that Kittle remains one of the preeminent TEs in football. His utilization numbers don’t jump off the page (21% target share, 20% air yards share, 9% end zone share), but he’s made up for it with elite efficiency.
If Kittle earns a few additional targets this week, he could do significant damage vs. the Commanders. They’ve allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to the position, and they’ve allowed a boost of +9.2 fantasy points per game.
Rachaad White ($6,600 Flex, $9,900 Captain)
The Commanders’ backfield looks like a nice source of value on Monday night. Jacory Croskey-Merritt has been the team’s leading rusher this season, racking up 54% of the team’s carries, but he’ll be out of the lineup vs. the 49ers.
It opens the door for Rachaad White to step into a potential bellcow role. White has already handled most of the pass-catching responsibilities in the team’s backfield, and he should improve on his 28% carry share through the first five weeks. Austin Ekeler is his only real competition for touches, and Ekeler was basically a non-factor with White back in the lineup in Week 5 (10% snap share).
White ultimately has the fourth-highest projection among non-quarterbacks in this contest, beating out more expensive players like Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs. He’s ultimately one of the best pure values on the slate.
Differentiator Picks For Your NFL DFS Showdown Lineup (SF vs. WAS)
Brandin Cooks ($4,000 Flex, $6,000 Captain)
With so many bodies out for the 49ers at receiver, there are going to be opportunities for some other guys to make plays. Perhaps Cooks will be one of them. He only debuted with the team in Week 4, and he got up to a 38% route participation in Week 5. He had just an 8% target share in that contest, but he did catch a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Cooks ultimately had fewer routes than Jacob Cowing in that contest, but he’s the more accomplished player overall. Both guys make sense as value plays, but I give the edge to Cooks personally.
Kyle Juszczyk ($1,400 Flex, $2,100 Captain)
The 49ers could also lean on more Juszczyk given their current injury situation. The fullback was on the field for roughly 50% of the team’s offensive snaps through the first four weeks before missing last week’s contest. He’s had a target share of at least 7% in each of his past three games, and while that’s nothing to get excited about, he is getting opportunities. Juszczyk had a touchdown back in Week 2, so he has more upside than his current price tag suggests.
