We're already in Week 5 of the NFL season, which seems crazy. To start the week, we get a TNF matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs are traveling to Dallas, where they will look to fight as 8.5-point underdogs.

I'm going to be breaking down the DraftKings NFL DFS picks for the showdown slate that we have for this game. First, I'll highlight some players that I want to target in the captain spot, who get a 1.5x FP boost. High-upside players are who I want to target here, and the lower the ownership, the better. I will then break down some flex plays that I like to round out your lineups. Let's dive into it!

Week 5 TNF DAL vs. TB DraftKings Single-Game DFS Showdown Picks

NFL DFS Captain Picks For DAL vs. TB

Dak Prescott - DAL QB ($15,600): The most optimal captain right now, Dak Prescott looks like a good click at the captain position in cash games. You will likely be pairing him with 1 or 2 receivers, as well as having the opposing QB. It sets up well for a nice cash build. Some cash builds are ugly and just project the best, but this one makes sense. Dak has had a strong passing start to the season, but it hasn't been translating to fantasy points due to the lack of passing TDs. He has still put up great scores with the lack of TDs, and I like him here to continue his strong start. Hopefully his TD variance figures itself out.

Javonte Williams - DAL RB ($16,200): I'm always going to love a bellcow back in a game where they are big favorites. With the Cowboys coming in as 8.5-point favorites, there is a likely game script where Williams dominates. He has been their most utilized weapon in the red zone, having 5 TDs so far this season. And to add to this, in a game where the Cowboys should be playing ahead, they should lean on Javonte here more to burn clock and passively gain yards. He's coming off a game last week vs. the Texans with 62 rushing yards, 5 rec for 21 yards, and 3 TDs. His usage has been great, and I like him in the captain spot here in a spot where he could be really leaned on.

Cade Otton - TB TE ($6,600): A slightly off-the-board, less popular captain, I like Cade Otton here. There are many routes for him to get there here. In a negative game script, and with Jalon Daniels likely getting pressured, Otton could be in for a ton of targets here. He has been very healthily involved, with 5 or more targets in each of the Bucs first 4 contests. He hasn't found the end zone yet this season, and I'm sure the Bucs want to try to get him more involved in the red zone.

Flex Picks for Cowboys vs. Buccaneers NFL DFS Showdown Slate

Jalon Daniels - TB QB ($8,600): Daniels is coming in at a super friendly $8.6k price tag here, and is projecting quite well at his price. The Bucs are going to most likely need to air the ball out here, so Daniels should have a ton of opportunities to convert long plays. I like getting to him, and one of his pass catchers. The usage is so spread out, so I think that spending down on a receiver is a good idea here. This allows you to get to the Cowboys' studs and create a very good GPP lineup. The right pair with Daniels, who catches a long touchdown, can win you a GPP tournament.

Ryan Flournoy - DAL WR ($3,800): Flournoy has been priced way too cheap every single week thus far. His role is super secure as the WR3. The Cowboys are not rotating receivers as much as many thought they would coming into the year. He is coming in super owned, so there is an angle where fading him in GPPs could be good. Maybe getting to one of those cheaper TB receivers as I mentioned. But in cash games, Flournoy looks close to a lock with how secure his role is, and the opportunities he's been getting.

Brandon Aubrey - DAL K ($5,400): To end off flex plays, Brandon Aubrey looks like a good filler piece in the midrange. Primetime kickers have been a letdown overall, missing a ton of FGs that they should be converting. Kickers are always super safe; however, Aubrey is maybe the safest in the league, along with having the highest ceiling. He has put up over 10 FP in each of the last 3 weeks. If the Cowboys get an early lead, I would expect them to not go for anything risky in FG range and let Aubrey kick to put more points on the board. A great-looking cash play here, and still playable in GPPs.
