Bryce Lance Fantasy Football Outlook With New Orleans Saints
Matt LaMarca breaks down the fantasy football outlook for Bryce Lance, the newest WR in the New Orleans Saints pass-catching room.
Bryce Lance won’t get the same rookie paycheck as his brother, Trey, but can he have a better career? Bryce is a wide receiver, and he was selected 136th overall by the Saints. He followed his brother to North Dakota State, where he had a productive career. Let’s dive into everything you need to know for fantasy purposes.
Bryce Lance Fantasy Football Outlook With The Saints
The Saints already addressed the receiver position on night one, selecting Jordyn Tyson with the eighth overall pick. Add him to Chris Olave, and the team figures to have an excellent 1-2 punch.
That said, you need more than two receivers in the modern NFL, and behind that duo, the cupboard was pretty bare in New Orleans. Guys like Devaughn Vele, Mason Tipton and Bub Means round out the depth chart, and Lance should compete with that trio for playing time immediately.
That makes Lance an intriguing option for a potentially ascending offense. The Saints won five of their last six games in 2025-26, with Tyler Shough emerging as a potential savior at quarterback. They averaged 24.8 points and 354.4 yards per game during that stretch, and they were 11th in EPA per dropback during that stretch.
Quarterbacks tend to make their biggest statistical leaps in their second seasons, so wanting a piece of the Saints’ offense in 2026-27 is very reasonable.
Should You Plan to Draft Bryce Lance this year?
Lance was an afterthought heading into the NFL Draft, with a fantasy football ADP just inside the top 240 on Underdog. That said, the landing spot makes him a really intriguing sleeper in all formats.
While he’ll start the year behind at least Olave and Tyson, neither guy has been the picture of health. There’s a scenario where both players hit the IR in 2026, which could open the door for Lance to take over as the team’s top receiver. We don’t typically think of “handcuffs” at the receiver position, but Lance stands out as a very interesting handcuff option.
The same is true for Lance in dynasty leagues. His athleticism, combined with an injury-prone depth chart and a potentially ascending quarterback, makes him one of my favorite flyers to target in rookie drafts.
2026 Scouting Report For Bryce Lance
Lance was a three-star recruit out of high school, but it took him some time to break out. He spent five years at North Dakota State, and he didn’t really get on the field until his fourth year on campus. However, Lance broke out in a big way when he got his opportunity. He racked up 75 catches, 1,053 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns in his penultimate season, which was enough to reportedly garner a seven-figure NIL offer from a power-four school.
Lance chose to stay at North Dakota State, and he racked up another 1,000-yard campaign. He followed that up by evicerating the combine. He ran a 4.34 40-yard dash at 6-foot-3 and 204 lbs, putting him in the 97th percentile or better for 40 time, Speed Score, and Burst Score.
Most of his damage in college came downfield, with 62% of his targets traveling at least 10 yards. His athleticism didn’t exactly pop when he got the ball in his hands, averaging -0.3 yards after catch below expected.
Dwain McFarland’s Rookie Super Model isn’t particularly bullish on Lance. It gives him just an 18% chance at a WR3 finish by his third season, but his athleticism at least makes him worth some consideration. It’s possible he continues to get more polished as a professional.
