College Football Predictions for Week 0
If you are new to prediction markets, there are a few distinct differences between them and traditional sportsbooks. A prediction market is a centralized marketplace where you can take markets with the available liquidity determining the price you get for the amount you want to bet, making it vital that you check the order book before confirming your wager. You can also make markets with hopes of someone filling your order.
Each prediction market also has its own set of rules in regard to fees, altering how much you profit could you win your wager. It’s critical to incorporate these fees when making a wager because they alter your ROI in the long run.
North Carolina vs. TCU Under 49.5 (59%, Kalshi)
While you can live-trade games on sportsbooks, bettors have to live in fear their play would result in them getting limited. With prediction markets, trading is encouraged, giving you the ability to lock in profits as the game progresses.
Week 0’s season opener in Dublin, Ireland will give us a great opportunity to trade both sides with TCU and North Carolina expected to get off to a slow start while integrating new pieces on offense. Both competitors are dealing with turnover at QB with Jaden Craig getting the start for the Horned Frogs while the Tar Heels turn toward Billy Edwards Jr. to lift up their offense.
Even though UNC looks underwhelming on paper, their defense quietly played at a competitive level last season after ranking in the top 50 in Defensive Pass Success Rate and in Rush Explosiveness — two traits a defense must possess when trying to bottle up a dual threat QB.
On the other side of the ball, the Tar Heels' lack of production on offense will continue to hold them back from being a competitive unit, shading value toward the full game under. Buy the alt under of 49.5 to get the key number and plan to buy the other side if it dips to 42.
San Jose State vs. USC Over 58.5 (57%, Kalshi)
Injuries have already reared their ugly head over USC in the trenches, and the Trojans are another team I'm looking to trade this season, starting with their Week 0 matchup against San Jose State. USC fits the profile of a paper tiger, fielding a star-studded offense that grades out well in Finishing Drives, Efficiency, and in Explosiveness while hovering near the bottom of the board in Defensive Success Rate.
While the Spartans lack the talent needed to match USC’s output for a full 60 minutes, they do excel at taking care of the ball to help sustain drives down the field, per their top-40 mark in Havoc Allowed. Keeping their drives alive late in the contest will be vital when the Trojans send in their B team, getting us the points we need to clear the over on the lofty total. Bet the over now with the intention of locking in a profit by betting the under at 63 or higher.
