Fantasy Football Buy, Sell, Hold: Hang On To Alvin Kamara

While I believe everyone is allowed to spend the offseason as they see fit, it's been tough caring about players while everyone else has logged off.

But just this week, my friends have finally started talking about fantasy football again. And boy, oh boy, do they like talking about RBs.

So let's do it! Let's dive into which RBs I'm buying, selling and holding.

BUY: RBs With Opportunities

Kenneth Gainwell | RB | TB

I will not slander Bucky Irving. I will not slander Bucky Irving. I will not…

But I need to talk about Kenneth Gainwell.

Despite last season playing alongside Jaylen Warren, who amassed 958 rushing and 333 receiving yards, Gainwell still managed to carve out over 1,000 all-purpose yards of his own during his first year with the Steelers. That's even more impressive when you consider the Steelers logged the fifth fewest rushing attempts in the league last season.

Gainwell's also ranked top-5 amongst RBs in:

Most receptions (4th)
Most receiving yards (5th)

Gainwell now enters Tampa's offense with some room to grow. Not only is Irving still on the mend, but Irving failed to live up to his own success after returning from injury in Week 13 of 2025.

There's a path for Gainwell to lead this backfield. And even if the two RBs do split the work, Gainwell has succeeded as an RB2 before.

David Montgomery | RB | HOU

Houston ranked 22nd in rushing yards per game in 2025, despite the team finishing 13th in rushing attempts in the league.

Not great.

But the Texans made moves this offseason to address their broken run game. Not only have they beefed up their o-line, but they've signed David Montgomery.

While living in Jahmyr Gibbs' shadow, Montgomery still managed to shine. Monty logged 1,000+ scrimmage yards in six out of his seven seasons. We love a consistent king!

Monty has the chops to hold down the RB1 spot in Texas. And with the offseason overhaul, it looks like the Texans have done their best to fix their problem.

Blake Corum | RB | LAR

I'm not buying Blake Corum just because Sean McVay recently said that Corum will be a "big factor" in the Rams’ offense, but it sure helps. I've been banging the Blake Corum drum all offseason long and McVay's comments only boost my way-too-big ego.

If you follow the numbers, you'll see that Corum's usage started to pick up after the Rams' bye in Week 8 of 2025. Sorry to the haters, but Corum is not just some silly little backup anymore.

But if you love Kyren Williams, you don't have to fret. There is a path for both Williams and Corum to function as a 1A/1B RB duo under McVay. In fact, we already saw it during Weeks 13-15:

Week 13:

Williams: 13-72-1
Corum: 7-81-1

Week 14:

Williams: 13-84-1
Corum: 12-128-2

Week 15:

Williams: 15-78-2
Corum: 11-71-1

Add in the fact that the Rams finished 7th in rushing yards, T-6th in yards per carry and 1st in points per game in 2025. Oh baby. There's plenty of room for both RBs!

SELL: These Backup RBs

Chris Rodriguez | RB | JAX

There's clearly a path to Chris Rodriguez's success with Travis Etienne out of the way in Jacksonville.

But Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen still exist. And if I'm being honest, there are other RBs I'd rather roster as potential “handcuffs.” Rodriguez is also recovering from offseason foot surgery, which has already limited him getting reps with the offense.

While it's worth noting that Rodriguez is reuniting with Liam Coen, I've always been more of a Tuten girl myself.

Isiah Pacheco | RB | DET

I want to be kind. I do.

But Isiah Pacheco barely managed 450 yards and 1 TD when he was fighting for touches against 30-year-old Kareem Hunt.

Now, you're telling me that Pacheco is going to spend the season fighting for touches against Jahmyr Gibbs?? That's a tall order to fill, buddy.

It’s Gibbs’ world and we're all just livin’ in it.

HOLD: Former Elite Veteran

Alvin Kamara | RB | NO

While I am excited for Travis Etienne's debut with the Saints, we can’t ignore the Alvin Kamara-sized elephant in the room.

If you’ve got Kamara, you’re holding onto him. You won’t get much in return for the old guy anyways (which is probably why the Saints re-signed him this month).

But it's silly to think there's no juice left in the tank, especially with his pass-catching abilities.

With the Saints offense primed for a fantasy breakout year, you could do much worse than a formerly elite veteran in a familiar system in the late rounds of your drafts.
