Fantasy Football Buy, Sell, Hold: Omar Cooper Is A Prime Value
Cooterdoodle drops her latest group of players she's buying, selling or holding, according to the latest news and fantasy football ADP.
We've finally made it midway through July and you know what that means. Draft season is near!
Let's look at a few guys worth rostering … or selling off.
BUY: Up-and-Coming Players
As we move into August, it's time to consider which players you want to plant your flag into.
I cannot leave my drafts without some of these guys. And the others? I'm hoping to sneak them onto my roster with my last few picks.
Colston Loveland | TE | CHI
I just LOVE when a player I've been excited about all offseason receives the love he deserves from our experts in their fantasy football rankings. Not only does it feel good to be right, but it makes me lean in even harder.
Colston Loveland is what diehard members of the Cole Kmet Club always hoped Kmet would be: a TE who can handle double-digit targets and find the end zone. Loveland, currently projected for 79 rec, 912 yds, and 7.5 TDs is very much capable. He managed 713 yards and 6 TDs with only 58 receptions last season …
Omar Cooper | WR | NYJ
The benefit of the Jets being god awful these last few seasons is that talented rookies aren't highly sought-after commodities when they're suiting up in New York.
But I fully intend on trying to take advantage of the NYJ discount applied at checkout. With a Round 14 ADP, why not take a change on a "YAC Monster."
If Garrett Wilson is a buy in dynasty leagues, wouldn't Omar Cooper stand to benefit as well?
Nicholas Singleton | RB | TEN
You could do worse with your last-round pick than taking a shot on an RB with boom-or-bust potential. And if you're in dynasty leagues, I'd rather take my chances on Nicholas Singleton now, before we see what he's capable of in a Titans jersey.
What? Are you worried about Robert Saleh's comments? "He's got a long way to go … All rookies do." Yeah. And he's right. But we've seen the stars align for rookies before.
SELL: Injuries And Off-The-Field Issues
I hate taking risks. Especially risks that don't come with much upside.
Considering their ADP and the available players being drafted around them … I'm out on these guys and avoiding the risks.
Josh Jacobs | RB | GB
Not only does Dwain McFarland think Josh Jacobs is risky.
Not only does Kendall Valenzuela think Jacobs is a player to avoid.
But the myth, the man, the legend of Matthew Berry himself has Jacobs tagged in our Draft Guide as "Avoid."
And that, boys and girls, is a hat trick of insurmountable proportions. How Jacobs' ADP is hovering near Round 3 is beyond me. I'm steering clear.
Malik Nabers | WR | NYG
I'm not sure much more needs to be said on the issue now that ESPN is speculating Malik Nabers could miss as many as 4-5 weeks.
Speculation or not, the entire storyline has been worrisome since his surprise secondary surgery was announced. AND HE'S BEING DRAFTED IN THE THIRD ROUND?
If you're somehow certain Nabers will come back stronger than ever after injury, your best bet is to let someone else draft him … Then, after they've lost their first 1-2 matchups in September, swoop in for the trade at a discount. Otherwise, you might find yourself holding the bag for a month or more …
Patrick Mahomes | QB | KC
How the hell did we get here? Labeling Patrick Mahomes as a risk feels like blasphemy.
But remember, he's coming off of an ACL injury, his TE is retiring soon and his WR room has … off-the-field issues.
If you're hellbent on drafting a QB in the 8th/9th round, you could find one with fewer red flags.
HOLD: Running Backs With A Chance
Sometimes a RB just needs a chance, man. And this season, these guys might get theirs. Let's hold and see how it plays out.
David Montgomery | RB | HOU
Sure, the offensive line wasn't great in Texas last year. But they've made a few moves that could benefit David Montgomery and your fantasy teams.
And Monty is no longer hiding behind Jahmyr Gibbs' much bigger and much better shadow in Detroit.
As the RB1 in Texas, Montgomery's got an opportunity to beef up your roster as a late 5th rounder. Which is pretty enticing for those drafts with WR/TE heavy starts…
Jonah Coleman | RB | DEN
The stars aren't necessarily aligned for Jonah Coleman this season. He's a fourth-round draft pick in a class that was … Well … What's the opposite of stacked?
But Sean Payton made it clear this offseason that he wanted to make a "big splash" play at the RB position before missing out on Travis Etienne (#whodat). This tells me Payton isn't pleased with this RB room.
It's possible Coleman gets a shot at proving himself.
