NFL OTA Risers For Fantasy Football: AD Mitchell Turning Heads For The Jets
Kody Malstrom rounds up the biggest fantasy football news from this week around NFL OTAs and mini camps.
In the midst of NFL OTAs and mini camps, a few players have started to turn heads, making us question the validity of their performances and news reports. This week's breakdown of standouts includes a former Indianapolis Colts WR making waves in New York and a young QB in Tennessee showing promise after a disappointing rookie campaign.
Weekly NFL OTA Standouts to Watch For Fantasy Football
Adonai Mitchell is Currently the New York Jets WR2
Even after injecting their offense with young talent this offseason, including using a first-round pick on Omar Cooper Jr., Adonai Mitchell has been able to hold off his competition and has been labeled as the New York Jets WR2. In his first stint with the Jets in 2025, Mitchell was able to rival Garrett Wilson in EPA and in targets per route run.
Mitchell’s gain is Cooper’s downfall, especially when factoring in the addition of Kenyon Sadiq, who should also chip away at the Jets' overall target share. With so many mouths to feed, pass on Cooper for now in redraft leagues, but take advantage of any overreaction in dynasty leagues should he plummet down the draft board.
Cam Ward Breaks Out of His Slump
A former first-round pick, Cam Ward struggled to find his footing in his rookie campaign with the Tennessee Titans, finishing the year ranked dead last of all qualified QBs in EPA per play while near the bottom of the board in CPOE, bad throw percentage and in air yards per reception. While some of the blame can be pointed towards his lack of weapons, Ward’s sporadic decision-making brought too much havoc for him to overcome.
After replicating his struggles early on in OTAs, Ward has started to show some signs of progression while building a rapport with Carnell Tate and Wan’Dale Robinson. Until Ward can carry over his success into the regular season and one of the Titans WRs separates themselves as a surefire WR1, it’s tough to spend any capital on them in redraft leagues, making it worth looking elsewhere at their current fantasy football ADPs.
Commanders Turning Their Sights Towards a Committee
After early reports indicated the Washington Commanders may opt into the idea of an RB committee, recent news has strengthened that claim with Rachaad White showing out in mini camp. Dan Quinn has also made multiple comments regarding White’s pass-catching abilities, indicating he may immediately see the field to the demise of Jacory Croskey-Merritt.
With White eating away at JCM’s workload, his usage will be too dependent on an injury just to carve out a role as a viable RB on your roster. Kaytron Allen and Jerome Ford will also have the opportunity to strengthen their claim for time on the field throughout training camp, making their RB battle one of the more intriguing ones worth monitoring heading into the season.
Antonio Williams is Gaining Steam
Keeping our attention on the Commanders, Antonio Williams has also made waves throughout camp, gaining steam as a potential WR2. Only Luke McCaffrey currently stands in his way, giving Williams a great opportunity to immediately contribute if he can leap over his teammate on the depth chart.
Even if Williams is able to leap over McCaffrey, the potential addition of Stefon Diggs or Brandon Aiyuk will keep the rookie WR down the depth chart, plummeting his potential usage rate in the process. Until we get a clearer picture on either player joining the team, temper your expectations on the rookie. If the Commanders keep their roster intact, target Williams in later rounds with hopes of him carving out a larger role as the season progresses.
