Parker Washington The Best Jag? Beware OTA Reports
In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by FantasyLife+.
OTAs are underway and you know what that means …
We are about to be flooded with an avalanche of hyperbolic statements regarding these players.
It’s important to remain vigilant during these times. These are quotes from coaches and teammates and beat reporters who view the world through extremely biased and rose-colored glasses.
Our job as fantasy football players is to remain unemotional and discerning.
Here are three pieces of recent hyperbole for us to sift through …
Tua said Zachariah Branch “reminds him of Jaylen Waddle.”
I mean, sure, they are built similarly but Waddle was a top-6 overall selection in the NFL Draft and Branch went in the third round. Waddle, for reference, is top 3 all time in Dwain’s Rookie Super Model—Branch is 113th. Can’t wait for Tua to tell us that Darnell Mooney reminds him of Tyreek Hill.
John Shipley (Jags beat reporter) said Parker Washington looked like the best player on the field on Tuesday.
Look, Washington is a fine player. He serves a role, but to call a sixth-round pick who has never cracked 1k receiving yards the best player on a field that includes Travis Hunter, Brian Thomas Jr. and Jakobi Meyers at the same position is the definition of hyperbole.
De’Von Achane cited Malik Washington as a player who has been “stepping up in a big way.”
It’s kind of hard not to step up when the team got rid of every other WR on the squad. There isn’t really anything to step on … he just walked forward in an empty room. But I’m sure he’s great and will definitely outperform Greg Dulcich and the rookies they drafted with a QB who is going to rush for 1,000 yards.
Anyway, stay safe out there guys.

Best Available FA Running Backs for the Packers
What if we told you there were seven RBs available on the NFL free agent market who at at times in their respective careers finished in the top 10 in fantasy scoring? Some did it more than once. Well, age and injuries are reasons that they’re still available. But the Packers may be in the market for RB help, after the off-the-field news came out about Josh Jacobs on Tuesday.
With Chris Brooks and MarShawn Lloyd the top RBs on the roster aside from Jacobs, Green Bay may be looking to add to the RB room, in case Jacobs misses time. It’s a who’s who of former high picks and players who surprised out of nowhere to become top performers. Who can you see in Green Bay?

Dynasty Mailbag: Drake Maye Regression Coming?
We all saw the 21 sacks that Drake Maye took during Patriots’ four-game playoff run. Even how he passed for less than 180 yards in 2 of 4 games against a crucible of elite NFL defenses. Because the fantasy community is so impacted by recency bias, the 4,394 passing yards and 31 TDs on top of the QB4 finish in fantasy points per game are almost washed away by some who see the QB7 ADP and think, “pass” (pun very much intended). But is regression coming for Maye now that he’s facing a first-place schedule and sporting a Super Bowl hangover? Jake Trowbridge threw back to a year ago when Maye was a QB he was targeting in dynasty:
I was calling him one of my favorite trade targets back then, so maybe I have some built-in biases, but his combination of passing + rushing acumen + draft capital cements him as a top dynasty guy. I don’t think a tougher schedule this season changes that. ⤵️
