Potential Fantasy Football Fallout Of Josh Jacobs Situation

With revelations reportedly surfacing about an incident involving Josh Jacobs and his girlfriend that was apparently captured on video, it has to be considered whether Jacobs could be facing a lengthy suspension from the NFL as Brown County authorities continue to investigate the case.

However, the county reduced its original charges to misdemeanors against Jacobs, whose attorneys released a statement stating that fact and that he has not been charged with domestic violence. That makes this a murky situation. So this all comes down to the video.

There is precedent for players receiving long suspensions after video evidence of domestic violence surfaced. Ray Rice of the Ravens, just before the start of the 2014 season, had his suspension changed from two games to indefinite after an incident that was made public by video footage. He never played again in the NFL. Kareem Hunt was cut by the Chiefs and eventually suspended for eight games the following season after video evidence surfaced during the 2019 season. Hunt has played every season since, including the past two seasons back with the Chiefs, and is currently a free agent.

One of the legal authorities in the fantasy space is Drew Davenport, and he should have more on this case as more information unfolds.

With that said, how could the Packers proceed if Jacobs is suspended for a long portion of the 2026 season?

Green Bay Packers Potential Moves If Josh Jacobs is Suspended

Below is the potential fallout for fantasy football for the coming season. This includes players on the Packers’ depth chart, including Jacobs, as well as two players who could be trade targets for the Packers.

Josh Jacobs: I have moved Jacobs down to high-end RB3 territory given that there could be video. But don't want to overreact since the charges were reduced and didn't include domestic violence. Jacobs is a high-risk, high-reward play.

MarShawn Lloyd: Lloyd would move into the RB1 role if Jacobs is suspended. If Jacobs missed the season, Lloyd would be a low-end RB2 with RB1 upside. He would likely share the passing-down work with Chris Brooks, but should be the No. 1 option on the ground. There is also some risk that the Packers could trade for a player or sign a free agent. Lloyd's ADP is likely to climb on this news. He moves into the same tier as Jonathon Brooks and Blake Corum on this news. He is in play in Round 8 of drafts as an upside RB3/4. 

Chris Brooks: Brooks would slide into the RB2 role and could be the primary passing-downs option. He is a late-round dart throw in deep leagues.

Pierre Strong Jr.: Would move into the RB3 slot.

James Conner & Sean Tucker: The Packers could look to fortify their depth if Jacobs misses a large amount of time (or if they part ways), and both of these names have been rumored as available. Reminder: Conner and Tucker are strong late-round options in deep leagues.
