Training Camp Updates with Fantasy Football Impacts: Bijan Gets Paid, Ladd McConkey's Rise and More News
Breaking down the latest NFL training camp news and updates impacting fantasy football, including Bijan Robinson's massive extension and Ladd McConkey's WR1 upside.
Another day of NFL training camps is in the books, meaning we have a fresh new wave of fantasy-relevant news and updates to dive into. Between injuries, contract extensions, and general buzz, there are plenty of takeaways from today alone.
Without further ado, let’s dive into some of the biggest developments from Tuesday affecting 2026 fantasy football drafts.
Training Camp Updates for Fantasy Football
Bijan Robinson Gets Paid
Bijan Robinson has spent the first few days of Falcons training camp “holding in” in search of a new deal — similar to what Jahmyr Gibbs is doing for the Lions. While neither player seemed truly in jeopardy of missing time during the regular season, the fact that both guys weren’t on the field for the start of training camp was a slight concern.
Fortunately, Robinson fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief.
The star RB agreed to a three-year, $75M extension with the Falcons on Tuesday, including $51M in guaranteed money. Per ESPN, Robinson will receive $22.25M per year, making him the highest-paid RB in NFL history.
It’s hard to argue that Robinson isn’t worth it. He’s done it all in his first three NFL seasons, and he led the league with 2,298 scrimmage yards in 205-26.
With Tyler Allgeier now out of the picture, Robinson is poised for the biggest season of his career. The end of his “hold in” makes this all systems go, and if Gibbs’ hold-in continues, it serves as a nice tiebreaker between the consensus top two RBs in fantasy.
Daniel Jones Trending Up
Daniel Jones was having a breakout campaign before suffering a torn Achilles last year. He piloted the Colts to one of the best offenses in football, and he was QB7 overall and QB8 in fantasy points per game through the first 13 weeks of the season.
Jones’ recovery from Achilles surgery has reportedly gone well, and ESPN’s Ben Solak reports that Jones looks “unimpeded” at training camp. It sounds like he’s trending toward being available in Week 1, and if that happens, he could be a sneaky option for those who wait to address the quarterback position in fantasy drafts.
Chargers to Stand Pat at Receiver
One of the biggest questions this offseason has been whether the Chargers would bring back Keenan Allen. He led the team in targets and receptions last year, which seriously diminished the upside for the team’s other pass-catchers.
However, ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported on Tuesday that the Chargers are not expected to sign a veteran receiver before the start of the year. That’s a massive development if true. Without Allen in 2024-25, Ladd McConkey racked up a 26% target share, including a 29% mark from Week 11 on. If he can get back to that threshold, he has the potential to be a WR1 for fantasy purposes.
Quentin Johnston also gets a clear bump with this news, while guys like Orande Gadsden and Tre Harris become slightly more appealing as sleepers.
DeVonta Smith & Makai Lemon Miss Practice
Soft tissue injuries are never good, and both DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon were held out of Tuesday’s practice with hamstring injuries.
The timing is particularly rough for the Eagles, who have a first-year offensive coordinator in Sean Mannion. He’s looking to install his new system, and he’ll have to do it with two of his top pass-catchers on the sidelines.
The good news is that both players still have plenty of time to heal up before the start of the year. As long as these issues don’t linger, both guys have plenty of appeal for the upcoming season. Smith should take over as the team’s No. 1 receiver following the departure of A.J. Brown, while Lemon could play a significant role as a rookie. There’s no reason to downgrade either player at the moment, but it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.
Alvin Kamara Set for Passing-Down Role
In other news, water is wet. Alvin Kamara and pass-catching work go together like lamb and tunafish – shoutout Big Daddy – and NOLA.com’s Jeff Duncan reports that Kamara is getting “first call” in passing situations so far in training camp.
Duncan added that he'll be surprised if the backfield is split 50-50 with the newly acquired Travis Etienne, like the days of Kamara and Mark Ingram. But it’s still a clear blow to Etienne's fantasy value. He’s coming off the board with a consensus ADP of 41.1, and he has some letdown potential at that price tag.
Kenyon Sadiq Suffers "Setback"
We’ve seen plenty of rookie tight ends become instant fantasy contributors in recent years: Sam LaPorta three years ago, Brock Bowers the season after, and Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland last year.
Kenyon Sadiq was a potential option to join that group in 2026-27. He was the first TE taken in the 2026 NFL Draft, going 16th overall to the Jets. He provides elite athleticism at the position, blazing a 4.39 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. With minimal established receiving options in New York behind Garrett Wilson, Sadiq has a chance to emerge as the team’s clear-cut No. 2 threat.
Unfortunately, that will only happen if he’s able to get on the field. He underwent offseason hernia surgery, and he’s currently listed as the team’s No. 2 TE behind Mason Taylor. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters that Sadiq had a “little setback” in his recovery, though he is confident that he’ll still be available for Week 1.
With the quality of depth at tight end this season, it’s getting harder to buy Sadiq as a sleeper. If he’s unable to get on the practice field – and leapfrog Taylor on the depth chart – it’s hard to imagine him having much of an impact early. He’s currently TE17 in our consensus rankings, but he could slip a few spots if he doesn’t return to action shortly.
Hall of Fame Game Updates
The Hall Of Fame Game typically features minimal involvement from regular contributors, and Xavier Legette seems more likely than most to sit out. He reportedly suffered a stinger at practice on Tuesday, and Dave Canales told reporters they would “evaluate him over the next day or two.” He’ll likely get the night off on Thursday, but hopefully he’ll return to the practice field shortly.
In other news, Carson Beck has been named the Cardinals starting quarterback for Thursday night. It will be his first taste of NFL action after being drafted 65th overall, and the Cardinals will be hoping he shows well enough to build some optimism for his future prospects.
