Week 5 Running Back Streamers For Fantasy Football: Ollie Gordon & More
Jorge Martin dropped the running back streamer recommendations for fantasy football in Week 5.
We thought last week was a tough one for injuries. Oy! The hits just keep on coming. But we’re a resilient lot, us fantasy football managers. We signed up for 17 weeks of highs, lows, injuries and the occasional insult from leaguemates who beat us by fractional points. And if we’re lucky, we get to celebrate a title in the new year. In the meantime, it’s Week 5, lotta miles to go before that.
Let’s get into some streamers. As always with running backs, we’ll mine the fantasy football rankings for players outside the top 24. Make sure to check out our fantasy football projections to get further confirmation why these players are targets. Lastly, all stats versus each position group listed below are from our wonderful DvP tool and any utilization data came from our UR Score.
Running Back Streamers for Week 5 in Fantasy Football
Ollie Gordon | Dolphins vs. Bengals
How fun was it to spend a wad of your FAAB on Gordon, then realize that he was going to be traveling to play the Vikings’ vaunted defense? Yay! Well, he went out and posted a 9-100-1 line that included a 53-yard run. His TD was the only one of the game … for either side. He ran 60% of routes and even had a TPRR of 17%, though that came out to just 2 targets (he caught both).
The Bengals go to Miami fresh off giving up 91 scrimmage yards to Bhayshul Tuten, which could have been more if not for a long TD run negated by a holding penalty. Keep in mind this is also the time of year that visiting teams playing in the early window in Miami’s stadium end up facing a big sun-and-heat disadvantage.
Rhamondre Stevenson | Patriots vs. Raiders
While TreVeyon Henderson ran the ball once more than Stevenson (14-13), it was the veteran who got the most important role. He ran 60% of the routes and had 50% of carries inside the 5-yard line. He cashed in the only rushing TD for the Patriots on the way to 74 total yards.
This week, Stevenson gets the Raiders coming to Foxborough fresh off getting thrashed by Kenneth Walker for 177 yards and 2 TDs. Also, in Week 2 Omarion Hampton went for 115 scrimmage yards against them. With byes starting, this could mean Stevenson is a streaming option. Hendo could also get a spot start as an infamous what-the-heck flex. Special note: The Raiders are going from the Pacific time zone and will be playing in the early window, which has been problematic for the visitors.\
Tyler Allgeier | Cardinals vs. Lions
Maybe it was the timing of watching RedZone Channel, but it felt like Allgeier was the field A LOT on Sunday, and it had me wondering if Jeremiyah Love had gotten hurt. Postgame, the word came out that Love is nursing an ankle injury, though not related to the one that he sustained in preseason. Allgeier won the snap percentage battle 54-46%, while Love outrushed the veteran 14-8. But Allgeier got 100% of the rush attempts inside the 5, and punched in the only rushing TD for the Cardinals.
Up next for the Cardinals are the Lions on their second straight road game, and Chuba Hubbard just cooked them for 20-122-2 on Sunday night. Love should still get more touches for the Cardinals if he his health improves and he plays, but Allgeier should get double-digit touches and get the opportunities near the goal line.
