Guillotine Leagues™ Rest-of-Season Rankings: Wan'Dale Robinson, Nico Collins and More
Sam Wallace highlights some notable rising players in rest-of-season Guillotine Leagues rankings.
Fantasy football can be cruel. We spend so much of our time researching and analyzing just for our entire season to be unraveled by season-ending injuries. Thankfully, Guillotine Leagues are here to help you reset and get back in the game each and every week. Looking to draft a new team ahead of Week 7? Check out Guillotine Leagues.
Wan'Dale Robinson - Top Option in NY?
The New York Giants, despite being 2-4 and last in their division, are quickly becoming one of the more fun teams to watch. That's entirely thanks to the efforts of rookies Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, the latter of whom turned in a three-TD performance against the Eagles in Week 6.
The one piece missing from this party that could truly turn around this franchise is an all-star wide receiver. Let's hope Malik Nabers (knee) makes a full recovery and is ready for next season.
In the meantime, there's a significant void at the receiver position, and it's looking like Wan'Dale Robinson has as good a chance as anyone to step up and lead the way.
Last season, his third in the league, Robinson quietly had 140 targets. Now into Year 4, he's again showing signs of a high-volume player. He has 7+ targets in four of six games this season and is up to two receiving TDs.
The Giants will continue to run their offense through Skattebo (literally) while Dart looks to continue growing and developing as a franchise QB. As for Robinson, our own Matthew Freedman has him ranked as the WR37 for the rest of the season.
Not to get caught up with recency bias, but I am a touch higher than that, although it's hard to put him in front of many (any) of the names on Freedman's list. I think he offers the ideal blend of floor/ceiling that makes him a coveted piece for any roster as we get deeper into this season.
Patrick Mahomes - Guess Who's Back
After dropping their first two games, the Kansas City Chiefs are 3-1 over the last month, with their only loss being by three points.
They've also stepped up their offensive production. Over the first two weeks, they averaged just 19 points per game, but over their last four, that average is up to 29 points per game.
Don't look now, but the Chiefs are starting to roll, and they are about to get back wide receiver Rashee Rice from his six-game suspension.
All of that leads to Patrick Mahomes being Freedman's QB2 (behind only Josh Allen) for the rest of the season.
Mahomes already has four 30+ point performances this season and recently crested the 40-point threshold on Sunday night against the Lions. Perhaps most impressive is that he already has 222 rushing yards and four rushing TDs through six weeks. Those four TDs match his career-high, and there are still 11 games left this season.
Just when we thought the AFC was up for grabs with Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson both missing time with injuries, it looks like the Chiefs are getting ready to dominate the middle/end portion of this season.
If you need QB help and the Mahomes manager gets chopped, you know what to do. You may not like it, but this offense is inevitable.
Nico Collins - Big Games Coming
It was a quiet start to the season for Nico Collins. His 5.5 PPR Week 1 likely sunk many managers, especially considering his draft cost.
Even so, he's rebounded nicely since then. From Weeks 2-5, Collins is averaging:
- 7.8 targets
- 72 receiving yards
- 16.1 PPR
He'll be fresh coming off his Week 6 bye, along with C.J. Stroud and the rest of the Texans' offense. Freedman has Collins ranked as his WR6 the rest of the way.
It might seem aggressive for a guy who really hasn't had a monster performance yet, and compared to who else is ranked in his tier. That's why it's important to look at context and where he's trending.
Collins might only be ranked as a WR2 based on his current performances, but the numbers (and history) suggest that he's due for a massive second half of the season following his bye week.
If the opportunity presents itself, snag this talented alpha and ride his solid production to the far reaches of your fantasy football season.
Jake Ferguson - Welcome to Elite Status
The loss of CeeDee Lamb has certainly changed the fortunes of the Dallas Cowboys. Even so, they are still putting up solid numbers at a decent clip. They're 4th in scoring (29.7 PPG) but are also 31st in scoring defense (30.7 PPG).
That discrepancy has led to Dak Prescott having another solid campaign and has also boosted the value of Jake Ferguson.
Ferguson was one of my most-targeted TEs in drafts because he didn't carry the same price tag as guys like Brock Bowers or Trey McBride, but he offered elite upside simply because of how bad the Cowboys were projected to be on defense.
The loss of Lamb has only increased Ferguson's value. Coming out of Week 6, he's both the target (51) and reception (44) leader on the team. That blend of high-floor/high-ceiling production is what has him as Freedman's TE3 the rest of the season.
In my mind, the only thing keeping Ferguson from being the TE1 (ahead of both McBride and Tyler Warren) is that Lamb is due back in a few weeks. If Lamb was indeed out for the remainder of the season, I'd have no issue putting Ferguson at the top of the list.
If the Ferguson manager gets chopped, spend the necessary FAAB to get him on your roster and enjoy elite production for the remainder of the season.
