Anytime TD Picks & First TD Scorer Bets for Week 2: Mark Andrews & More

Week 1 gave us the first real chance to see how teams plan to use their players when the games count. It’s nice to have a little bit of data at our disposal!

Here are four Sunday touchdown props I’m looking at for Week 2, with odds via FanDuel Sportsbook.

Anytime TD Picks and First TD Scorer Bets for Week 2

Mark Andrews Anytime TD (+120)

Mark Andrews is not always the most exciting name to bet because the price can be a little short. Derrick Henry is going to steal a bunch of touchdown equity. Lamar Jackson can always keep one himself. That’s just the deal when you are betting a Ravens skill player.

Still, Andrews is in a really good spot against New Orleans.

Baltimore should score points, and Andrews’ Week 1 deployment near the goal line is exactly what we want to see. He played nine of the Ravens’ 11 snaps inside the 20-yard line, six of eight inside the 10, and all four snaps inside the 5.

That’s hard to ignore. There are no guarantees that usage repeats exactly from week to week, but Andrews was clearly on the field in the money zone. When defenses gear up to stop Henry, play-action concepts become more dangerous. When they respect Jackson’s ability to run, that can open up quick throws near the goal line.

I generally prefer longer touchdown prices than this one. But sometimes you just have to accept that the role is strong and the team environment is too good to pass up. Andrews is going to score sooner than later, and this feels like a pretty good spot for it to happen.

Cade Otton Anytime TD (+250)

Cade Otton’s 98% snap share from Week 1 is a big deal. He basically played every snap for Tampa Bay. Even better, the role followed him into scoring territory. Otton played eight of nine Buccaneers snaps inside the 20 and two of three inside the 10.

Baker Mayfield also had his eyes on him. Otton essentially tied for the team lead in first-read rate, which gives me more confidence that this was a real pass-game role and not just a tight end standing next to the tackle.

Tampa Bay is favored heavily over Cleveland, and the Browns were a mess in Week 1. The Bucs should have scoring chances. When they do, Otton should be on the field for nearly all of them.

At +250, I really like Otton this week.

Deebo Samuel Anytime TD (+200)

The 49ers are heavy favorites against Miami, which means San Francisco should be a team to target for touchdown props.

Deebo Samuel is always interesting because his route to a score is not limited to standard wide receiver targets. Kyle Shanahan can use him on a quick screen, a jet sweep, an end-around, or a backfield carry. You are basically betting on a receiver with some of the scoring paths of a running back.

The De’Zhaun Stribling injury could make the San Francisco target tree a little more condensed, which only helps the core options. Samuel already saw three targets inside the 20-yard line in Week 1, and the 49ers are in a game where they should have enough trips into scoring territory.

At +200, I think the number is quite reasonable. Deebo has too many ways to get the ball near the goal line, and Shanahan knows exactly how to put him in favorable situations.

Trevor Lawrence Anytime TD (+350)

Trevor Lawrence is the long-shot play here, but I think there is a real case for him to score with his legs.

Lawrence scrambled 43 times last season and also tallied seven designed quarterback runs. That is important. He doesn’t need a chaotic play to get there, although that is certainly one path. Jacksonville can call a keeper, use him on a bootleg, give him an RPO, or let him take off if Denver’s pressure forces him out of the pocket.

The Broncos blitzed at one of the five highest rates in football last season. Pressure can obviously result in sacks, but it can also create escape lanes when a mobile quarterback gets through the first wave.

Lawrence doesn’t need a huge rushing game for this bet to work. He needs one high-leverage play near the pylon. At +350, that’s enough for me to take a small shot.

Touchdown markets are all about chasing opportunity. Otton and Andrews have the best red-zone usage here. Deebo has the most creative role, and Lawrence can use his legs against a defense that allows QB scrambles. Good luck in Week 2!
