NFL DFS Value Plays For Week 2: Aaron Jones & Carson Wentz Provide Elite Salary Relief

We are on to Week 2 of the NFL season, and we've got 13 games to pick from for Sunday's DFS main slates on FanDuel and DraftKings. I'm going to be breaking down the top NFL DFS value plays on the slates.

These are players in great spots that also give you salary relief to build out the rest of your lineup with spend-ups. Nearly every week there are injuries, mispricing, and cheap-priced teams in good spots. Good values are great for both cash games and GPPs. Let's dive into them!

DraftKings and FanDuel NFL DFS Week 2 Value Plays

Michael Mayer - LV TE ($3,600 DraftKings, $5,300 FanDuel)

To start off Week 2, we're going to go back to the well with Michael Mayer. This is under the assumption that Brock Bowers will miss again. He still has not practiced yet, and while the Raiders are trying to get him back on the practice field this week, I lean toward him still out here. This, again, makes Mayer one of the top raw projected TEs on the slate. He is uber-talented and just secured a three-year, $ 45-million extension. With Bowers not in his way, he fills right in as the Raiders' top receiving option.

DeMario Douglas - NE WR ($3,800 DraftKings, $5,100 FanDuel)

The Patriots are going to look a little different in Week 2 with the potential return of TreVeyon Henderson, as well as the absence of A.J. Brown. Brown suffered an ankle injury during Week 1 and has been placed on the IR. This moves Romeo Doubs up to the team's top receiving slot. Mack Hollins and DeMario Douglas follow. Douglas came into Week 1 with a solidified slot role and ran a great number of routes. The absence of Brown will further solidify this role and open up the gates for him to receive more targets. He is too cheap here following this injury news.

Carson Wentz - MIN QB ($4,600 DraftKings, $7,000 FanDuel)

Next, let's look at the Vikings. Kyler Murray suffered a brutal hit early during Week 1, which sidelined him for the rest of the game, and he remains in concussion protocol. He will be “limited” in practice, but it would be shocking to see him rushed back after a scare like that in Week 1. Carson Wentz came in following Kyler’s injury and showed out. He showed a great connection with Justin Jefferson, completing two touchdown passes to him. Wentz is an experienced and talented QB who is incorrectly priced here in the absence of Murray. He looks like a great cash play here. He will most likely be the highest-owned QB on the slate if Kyler is out.

Aaron Jones Sr. - MIN RB ($5,100 DraftKings, $5,900 FanDuel)

Another Viking in an increased role here is Aaron Jones. Jones came into the season in a near 50/50 timeshare with Jordan Mason. Mason, however, has just been placed on IR following hand surgery. This moves Jones back into the clear RB1 spot, where he has spent most of his career. Having him as a “value” play is a first. Backing up Jones will be Demond Claiborne, who was a healthy DNP in Week 1, or DeeJay Dallas, a couple-year veteran who hasn't gotten much opportunity to prove himself. Whoever ends up being the beneficiary here shouldn't get too much playing time. Jones should be a near bell-cow back here. He looks like a great option this week.

Ryan Flournoy - DAL WR ($3,800 DraftKings, $5,200 FanDuel)

To finish off my favorite value plays of Week 2, let's look at Ryan Flournoy. The Cowboys had a Week 1 matchup vs. the Giants, where they struggled. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are the obvious 1-2 punch for the Cowboys at receiver. Flournoy falls into a starting slot role, and it looks as though that role is super secure. There was talk of KaVontae Turpin eating some of his snaps in the slot, but that was not the case in Week 1. Flournoy saw the majority of the field time and was healthily involved, receiving 4 targets. He hauled in 2 of those for 22 yards. Flournoy is a very viable salary relief option here, and a good piece for a Dak Prescott-led Cowboys stack in lineups.

Week 2 brings us a few key injuries that completely open up the slate with value. It's always fun to have great value pieces to be able to plug into your lineup, and spend up elsewhere.
