DraftKings NFL DFS Picks For Commanders vs. Eagles Showdown Slate
Jason Cohen examines the DraftKings Sunday Night Football Commanders vs. Eagles Showdown Slate for Week 8, identifying the best captain picks, flex picks and more.
We’re ending our weekend with a SNF contest between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders. The Commanders are home and are currently 5.5-point favorites in a 40.5 total.
I'm going to be breaking down the DraftKings DFS showdown that we have for this game. First, I'll highlight some players that I want to target in the captain spot, who get a 1.5x fantasy-point boost. High-upside players are who I want to target here, and the lower the ownership, the better. I will then break down some flex position plays that I like to round out your lineups.
Let's dive into it!
DraftKings Week 8 DFS Commanders vs. Eagles Captain Picks
Jayden Daniels | QB | WAS ($15,600)
Projecting as the slate's most optimal captain, Jayden Daniels looks like the preferred captain pick for cash games. He is the best point-per-dollar play of the spend-ups, which is what we are looking for in a cash game captain. Daniels dislocated his left elbow in Week 2, but has played the last two games in a brace and looks like himself.
In his return, he ran for 103 yards, and then last week against the 49ers he went 29-of-40 for 300 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, his best passing game of the season. He has five touchdown passes and no interceptions in the four games he has played. Philadelphia ranks 27th against the run, giving up 131.4 yards per game, so I like legs to be more involved than usual here. He also comes off of the bye week with some extra rest. He is the clear safest captain.
Rachaad White | RB | WAS ($12,000)
Next, I'm going to mention Rachaad White. With Croskey-Merritt on injured reserve with a groin injury, White is the lead back in Washington, and he has 36 carries for 145 yards on the season. He is a big part of the passing game, too, which gives him a higher floor than most running backs.
Last week against the 49ers, he had seven carries for 27 yards and caught four passes for 30 yards and a 9-yard touchdown. The Eagles are an easy matchup on the ground, as they just gave up 204 rushing yards to the Cowboys last week, with Javonte Williams running for over 150 of them. Austin Ekeler is also on the roster, but White has been the guy getting the work in this backfield. In a game where I expect the Commanders to be ahead, White looks like a high-upside captain here. He will have some ownership, though.
Dallas Goedert | TE | PHI ($11,100)
Lastly, I'm going to mention Dallas Goedert. The Commanders are favored by more than a touchdown in the market, so people are going to be heading to the Commanders' pieces. I like getting a little different with an Eagle in the captain.
With DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks both out, Goedert is the most trusted pass catcher for Tanner McKee. He has been averaging 7.5 targets per game with McKee at quarterback and had five catches on seven targets for 48 yards last week against the Cowboys. This is a good slate to get to midrange pieces, and I think Goedert is the Eagles' best-looking captain play.
DraftKings SNF DFS Commanders vs. Eagles Flex Picks
Tanner McKee | QB | PHI ($13,200)
To start off flex plays, I'm going to mention Tanner McKee. With Jalen Hurts out for the season, McKee is making his third consecutive start. In his first two starts, he has thrown for 200 and 211 yards. Last week he went 23-of-35 for 211 yards, a touchdown and an interception against the Cowboys. I prefer to get to one of his pass catchers in the captain spot, as McKee isn't going to provide much rushing upside, but he looks great in the flex. Philadelphia is a road underdog, which should keep him throwing the ball.
Makai Lemon | WR | PHI ($10,500)
Makai Lemon is a pass catcher that I love to round out lineups. With Smith and Wicks sidelined, Lemon stepped up last week with seven catches on eight targets for 67 yards and his first career touchdown. He ended up being the optimal captain and won many, including myself, some GPPs!
He played 56 of the Eagles' 62 offensive snaps, which was over 90%. It has been a slow build for the first-round rookie, who had just 10 catches for 65 yards in his first four games, but he has 15 catches for 129 yards over the last three. Lemon's 25 catches lead all NFC rookies. With Smith out again, I like him as the clear WR1 in this offense. I like looking to him at captain as well!
Antonio Williams - WAS WR ($9,300)
With Terry McLaurin out for the year, Dan Quinn said that Antonio Williams should see added opportunities, and he is ready for a bigger role. The rookie played 45 snaps last week, more than any other Commanders receiver, and he caught three of four targets for 50 yards. Williams has 18 catches for 205 yards and a touchdown on the season, and he caught four passes for 64 yards and a score against these same Eagles in Week 1. His role should be bigger after the bye, and I like getting to him here in the midrange.
