Dynasty Fantasy Football Buy/Sells for Week 1: The Price is Right on Garrett Wilson

Hopefully you’ve spent your offseason trading your way toward your ultimate dynasty goals. For some of you, that’s this year’s championship. For others, it’s the first overall rookie pick in next year’s draft class. For all of you: THE WORK IS NOT DONE.

Whether you’re a rebuilder or a contender, here are a few moves I strongly recommend before the season officially kicks off…

Dynasty Buy/Sell Week 1

Buy - Garrett Wilson | WR | NYJ

Get in now before Garrett Wilson quickly reminds the fantasy football populace that he’s the most underappreciated wide receiver on the planet. Dynasty managers might still have a bad taste in their mouths because his 2025 season ended abruptly after just a few weeks (even though he was the WR6 in fantasy points per game prior to that). Or they might worry about increased competition from rookies Omar Cooper and Kenyon Sadiq.

But at 26-years-old, and despite notching consecutive 1,000-yard seasons his first three years in the league, I don’t think we’ve come close to the ceiling with Wilson. What could he do with his most competent QB play yet? Picture Terry McLaurin circa 2024… but younger.

I’d be willing to do a clean swap with the new hotness Carnell Tate or even downgrade from Malik Nabers to get Wilson on my rosters.

Sell - Kyle Pitts | TE | ATL

Ahh, yes, my bi-monthly reminder that Kyle Pitts is not the elite tight end you want him to be. Yes, I remember that magic three-week stretch where Pitts averaged 10 targets and 113 yards per game. I also remember that his only real competition for targets, Drake London, was sidelined for those games.

A tight end that scores 20% of his season’s fantasy points in one game after getting bumped to the top of the receiving depth chart BY DEFAULT does not deserve to be valued anywhere near the likes of Tucker Kraft. And yet…

I’d much rather trade Pitts for Isaiah Likely or even Brenton Strange plus a draft pick or another solid depth piece at wide receiver or running back.

Buy - Kaleb Johnson | RB | GB

The newest addition to a befuddling Green Bay backfield, Kaleb Johnson obviously didn’t “pan out” in Pittsburgh. That’s a generous phrasing for someone who tallied 78 scrimmage yards as a healthy rookie. But a change of scenery can do wonders for players trying to overcome a bad case of the yips.

MarShawn Lloyd is the more exciting player getting all the hype (much of which is deserved), but his injury history remains a legitimate concern. Head coach Matt LaFleur doesn’t sound confident in Lloyd as a workhorse in the event of a Josh Jacobs suspension, and why would he? Finally healthy after two straight seasons of lower body injuries, the Packers should be extra cautious about his workload.

There’s obviously a lot of gray area with Jacobs’ status, but even if he plays this year… he’s old and the treads looked thin on those tires last year. And Johnson could very well thrive in an outside running scheme that plays to his strengths. If Green Bay can unlock the potential he showed in college, Johnson has a chance to become a big part of the Packers’ succession plan.

Anyone who drafted Johnson last year probably spent a first-round rookie pick. They’ve held onto him because of that. But for a 2028 second? I bet they’d reconsider. And if Johnson reaches the expectations that were set for him coming out of Iowa, a future second will feel like a steal.

Sell - Cam Skattebo | RB | NYG

Run away, dynasty managers. Run. Away.

Outside of the crème de la crème of the position (Bijan, Gibbs, etc), I value running backs in dynasty through a one- to two-year window. And even still, I’m terrified to roster Cam Skattebo. Why?

Well, for one, dude runs like a toddler that just snuck a sip of Red Bull. He runs like he’s trying to wake up all the sandworms in the Dune movies. Or like a Rumba that got stuck in the corner of the room. Skattebo runs like that rat from Ratatouille is under his helmet controlling him… but the rat also just did a bunch of meth.

MY POINT BEING this is not a man who puts his health front and center. Skattebo is coming back from a gruesome injury, and it sure feels like he’s actively inviting another.

And the signing of Najee Harris feels indicative of a serious backfield reshuffling. Harris may not be as exciting to watch, but he does all the things that coaches value in real NFL action, and he does them well. He’s a capable pass-catcher, reliable in protection and can get solid yards after contact. There’s a good chance he interferes with Skattebo’s value even if the second-year back stays healthy.
