Fantasy Football 2026 Breakout WRs: Parker Washington, Luther Burden And More
John Supowitz projects three wide receivers playing in potentially good offenses and are breakout candidates for fantasy football 2026.
What can take a team’s offense to the next level is having a wide receiver that they can rely on to elevate the passing game. For these three wide receivers, this could be the year they become stars and have a breakout season in 2026.
3 WR Breakout Candidates For Fantasy Football 2026
Luther Burden | WR | Chicago Bears
The 2025 wide receiver draft class was exceptional, and Luther Burden was among the rookies who played an important role for their team.
Chicago loves to spread the ball out, so there was no true WR1, which helped Burden be heavily involved in the offense. He finished third among Bears wide receivers with 652 receiving yards and was separated by the leader, DJ Moore, by only 30 yards. He’s already proving himself as a standout route runner, as his 2.69 yards per route run was the highest for a rookie since 2016 and third-best in the league last year.
Speaking of Moore, he was traded to the Buffalo Bills. Moore’s departure should help Burden compete with Rome Odunze as the top receiver in Chicago.
Parker Washington | WR | Jacksonville Jaguars
For Parker Washington, the 2025 season was one in which he got very close to having a monstrous year. His 847 receiving yards are nearly double the previous two seasons combined, and he also posted career highs in yards per reception (14.6), yards after the catch per reception (4.6) and average depth of target (12.5).
What is encouraging about Washington’s potential breakout year is how he became the central focus of the Jaguars’ passing game at the end of the season. With the AFC South on the line, Washington was a key piece, recording at least 6 catches and 115 receiving yards in two of the final three games, helping Jacksonville capture the division title.
Washington continued that momentum into the playoffs, leading the team with 7 catches and 107 receiving yards in the Jaguars' Wild Card Round loss to the Bills.
Do not be surprised if Washington becomes a favorite of Trevor Lawrence in 2026. He has all the elements to become a top-of-the-line receiver. He had 19 catches over 20 yards, the sixth most in the league, and his 106 yards after catch over expected ranked 13th in the league last season.
What also set Washington apart last season was how disappointing some of the other Jaguars receivers were. Brian Thomas had 80% or better snap share in each of the first six games, then did so only once in the final nine games, while failing to eclipse 100 receiving yards the entire season. Two-way player Travis Hunter had only one game of 100+ receiving yards and finished with one receiving touchdown. Jakobi Meyers was a late addition after being traded from the Raiders, and he only averaged 53.7 receiving yards.
These trends could have Washington becoming the WR1 in Duval County.
Jayden Higgins | WR | Houston Texans
Jayden Higgins had a solid rookie season with 525 yards off 41 catches.
What is encouraging about the potential for a second-year breakout is what we saw toward the end of the season. In his first eight games, he averaged 1.8 catches and 19.9 receiving yards, and the Texans went 3-5. In the final nine games, that went up to 3.0 catches and 40.7 receiving yards, and the Texans went 9-0. What also stands out is his ability to move the chains with his 68.3% first-down conversion rate. He was also important when Houston was close to scoring, as he had only four fewer end-zone targets than Nico Collins (14), and they tied for a team-high 6 receiving touchdowns.
The Texans struggled to run the ball, and the offensive line was among the worst in the NFL. Houston brought in David Montgomery to anchor the backfield and revamped the offensive line, including trading up in the first round to draft All-American Keylan Rutledge.
