Fantasy Football DvP Mismatch Report for Week 8: Garrett Wilson vs. the Raiders & More
Tipp Major highlights defensive matchups to target or avoid in fantasy football for Week 8, including Garrett Wilson vs. the Raiders.
The battle for LA is here! The records look ugly. The matchup? That’s another story.
Remember that all-LA Super Bowl buzz? In LA, no less! The Rams’ front office built a superteam with one of their philosophies being…F dem picks!
The Chargers? They’ve earned a different F.
An offensive mastermind was supposed to unlock Justin Herbert’s full potential. Instead, somebody needs to unplug this offense, count to ten, and plug it back in!
They’re winless, but they can still wreck somebody else’s season. The Rams are showing signs of life after injuries and setbacks involving their star pass rusher helped dig an early hole. Losing to their winless neighbors? That’ll bury that momentum in a hurry!
Every LA script needs its stars, but this week? I’m pointing the fantasy spotlight elsewhere.
Let’s get into the Week 8 matchups!
Week 8 Fantasy Football Matchups to Target
WR Garrett Wilson vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Oh no! We’re talking about a JETS player in fantasy football…
Stop! Bad teams need fantasy love too!
Garrett Wilson needs more of it from Geno Smith. Three targets last week? Unacceptable! Wilson leads WRs in Win Rate (21.4%) and Separation Score. He’s getting open. Geno, look his way! In both games with 10-plus targets, Wilson topped 100 yards and scored a touchdown.
Now comes Vegas. A little Geno revenge? Sure, but the matchup sells itself.
The Raiders allow the fourth-most fantasy points to outside-left receivers, where Wilson lines up over 40% of the time. They’ve also surrendered 266.7 receiving yards per game over their last three, sixth-most in that span.
Wilson has the talent and matchup. Smith needs to deliver the opportunities. Start Wilson as a strong WR2 with top-12 upside.
Get him the BALL!
RB Derrick Henry vs. Buffalo Bills
There are juicy matchups everywhere this week, and Lamar Jackson is set to return…
We think!
Nobody will welcome him back more than Derrick Henry.
It’s been a rough two weeks for Henry. Enough to have fantasy managers wondering if Father Time is tapping him on the shoulder. Or does Henry just need his partner in crime back? Lamar’s return won’t fix everything, but there are still fantasy points to be had!
Henry remains a top-15 RB in fantasy points per game at 17.67. The concerns? He ranks in the bottom five in missed tackles forced and has been stuffed on 48% of his short-yardage attempts.
But give the man a runway! His 11.3% explosive run rate ranks inside the top 15. If the offensive line can get healthy, there’s still damage to be done.
Buffalo is allowing over 23 carries and a touchdown per game to opposing backs. If Lamar returns, fire up Henry as an RB1.
Give the King that kind of workload?
Father Time might have to leave a voicemail.
Avoid This Week 8 Fantasy Football Matchup
WR KC Concepcion vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Browns are 5-2, and pretty hasn’t been part of the formula.
They’re averaging just 19 points per game, but doing enough to win. Style points? Those don’t count in the standings!
Now comes Pittsburgh, which has allowed just 17 points per game over its last three.
Another low-scoring AFC North slugfest? Possibly. But the stakes? Plenty high. First place is on the line!
KC Concepcion caught your attention last week. His first double-digit target game produced 129 yards. Ready to chase that breakout?
Pump the brakes!
He’s still searching for his first touchdown, and Cleveland isn’t exactly handing out scoring opportunities like Halloween candy.
The bigger concern? Concepcion runs 64% of his routes from the slot, where Pittsburgh allows the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game at 9.6. Slot receivers have scored just once against the Steelers all season.
Concepcion is a risky FLEX this week. If you have a comparable option in a better matchup, lean that way. Those 129 yards belong to last week. Don’t let them make this week’s lineup decision for you.
