Green Bay Packers Fantasy Preview

Few people outside the state of Wisconsin itself will be sweating every one of Green Bay’s plays like yours truly, after rostering more Packer stacks than any team all summer long. Between the obvious talent on their roster, tons of vacated targets, plus suppressed fantasy draft costs — I hope the argument makes at least a little sense. If not, my goose is cooked.

It all starts with Jordan Love, who seemed to fall out of favor in fantasy circles, firmly banished into QB2 territory. Perhaps a punishment for finishing as the QB21 in fantasy points/game, I still see a player who finished second behind Drake Maye in EPA/dropback (+0.22), with three separate overall QB2 weekly finishes. Ignore the ceiling at your own risk — he’s healthy, and there’s more uncertainty in the Packers’ backfield than ever.

Won’t comment out of turn on Josh Jacobs’ legal situation, outside of the fact that he just pled no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property. I’m still all the way out on the usually reliable Jacobs this year, with the fact that Adam Schefter reports, “Under the NFL’s CBA, the MINIMUM suspension for any domestic abuse is 6 games. If any of these charges are proven to be true, Jacobs is looking at a lengthy suspension.” Fantasy morality aside, I have no interest in taking zeroes waiting for a declining player.

Consequently, no one’s stock rose more this offseason than MarShawn Lloyd. The owner of just 396 rushing attempts across HS, CFB, and the NFL *combined*, I’d say as potentially juicy as this situation is, workload concerns would only be natural. In fact, during a recent media session, OC Adam Stenavich said Lloyd will be part of a "running back by committee" to start the season. 

Interestingly enough for fantasy, someone else will have to shoulder some of the load, and Chris Brooks averaged below 4.0 yards/rush in 2025 on a ~40% success rate. Yikes. Could we be looking at a reclamation arc for former third-rounder Kaleb Johnson? Too cheap not to find out in my book — add him yesterday.

And don’t even get me started on my favorite trio of same-team pass-catching breakouts: Christian Watson, Tucker Kraft, and Matthew Golden. Always one for stylistics, the perfectly fitting archetypes of versatile playmaker, yards-after-contact beast, and field-stretching vertical threat, respectively, got me thinking — Green Bay could be a top-5 passing offense. Mix in the uncertainty we mentioned in GB’s backfield, and a slight uptick in pass rate could land Jordan Love some love in the 2026 MVP race.

For all the research done, data scraped, and hot takes spewed, I’ve been fretting trying to analyze the 2026 Vikings. Talk about a wide range of outcomes …

On one hand, we’ve got Kevin O’Connell, an established offensive success story, known for effective playcalling — that is, until running head-first into J.J. McCarthy’s play style. Oof. Suddenly, I’m not so certain O’Connell’s system is quarterback-proof after winning 14 games with Sam Darnold, then letting him walk away regardless. Safe to say, something went wrong somewhere. But where does the finger of blame point?

If your answer’s McCarthy, then the fantasy arrow’s pointing all the way up to the sky for every Viking at cost — O’Connell managed to force viable play from Sam Darnold, Kirk Cousins, and even Nick Mullens, for crying out loud. Minnesota’s also got legitimate WR weaponry in Jordan Addison, and perhaps the most obvious “buy-low-on talent” play ever, Justin Jefferson. Easy to see how this pans out for the best.

Worth noting, Kyler’s setup is pretty nice against a Packers defense missing Micah Parsons, as well as a couple of starters in the secondary. Our FL Model makers like Kyler to get it done as the overall QB8. Anything can happen, especially if he hits that ~30 rushing yard projection. I’ll say this — if K1 doesn’t produce through the air Sunday, it immediately spells trouble in my book. 

Conversely, the case feels just as compelling to the bear side. Short jokes aside, is Kyler Murray even good? If last year’s 6.0 yards/attempt, 35.4% to the sticks, or 9.0% sack rate are any indication, our answer could be a resounding no. And now that we’ve seen just what the floor of this offense looks like without the proper shotcaller (zero), that’s been enough to push me off all the Purple People Eaters but one …

Caught in the constant back-and-forth of prioritized RB strategies this summer, very few backfield options with a real chance at early production stuck out late. That is, except for Jordan Mason. Somehow lasting to ADP 90 into August, there’s an honest chance at the lion’s share of touches for a somewhat decent offense. And we know opportunity’s king in fantasy.

Obviously, the superior between-the-tackles runner at this stage of their career, Mason blew veteran Aaron Jones out of the water across the board in yards/carry, success rate, negative rushes, and explosive carries last year. Higher floor, higher ceiling. Even if he understandably surrenders some of the pass game work, there’s an obvious path to an RB2 finish from the middle rounds. Given the elevated RB prices this year, that could spell the RB steal of the draft.

• Focused like the Eye of Sauron on the Vikings’ backfield usage, touches get split right down the middle between Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason. The bright side? No other MIN running back touches the ball, making Demond Claiborne an interesting contingency play behind an already vulnerable committee.
