These 7 Fantasy Football Factoids Define Week 7
In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Edge Boost.
Let’s just say it was a weird day of football …
1. Nothing says “Happy National TE Day” quite like 22.7 points from Mason Taylor (TE1) and 16 points from Davis Allen (TE3). Also: “Nick Muse” (a real TE for the Falcons who sounds like a fake TE wearing a Groucho Marx disguise) scored a TD, so maybe the power of the holiday is real?
2. You know it’s a gross slate when the RB1 is Tony Pollard (35 points) and the RB3 is Quinshon Judkins (22.9). That was Pollard’s first game over 12 points and only Judkins’ second game over 10 points. Congrats, your last-place teams are now in second-to-last place!
3. Baker Mayfield and Josh Jacobs are both back … but neither was unleashed. Baker attempted only 11 passes (because the Panthers were a disaster and Bucky Irving balled out) and Jacobs carried the ball only 11 (because the Packers o-line is still a disaster).
4. There is only one undefeated team left in the NFL—the Minnesota Vikings. There’s also only one winless team left—the Los Angeles Chargers. But you can’t lose on your bye week, so that’s a victory in itself for the Bolts.
5. J.J. McCarthy is 1-0 as the Giants starter and Cam Skattebo—17-124-1—is out of the doghouse … for now.
6. Lamar Jackson is still out, but Zay Flowers—8-137-1—didn’t get the memo. The Bengals got the divisional W, though, and Tee Higgins (6-148-1) is sneakily on pace for 1,600+ receiving yards.
7. Bo Nix finally regained his rushing mojo (7-74-1) in a rout of the Cardinals. No need to trade for Jonathan Taylor when your QB can rip off a 62-yard TD run. Right Sean Payton? RIGHT???

Early Week 8 Waiver Wire: Are You Into Handcuffs?
Not those kinds. We’re talking RB handcuffs. There’s a two-fold reason that this week’s early waiver wire is highlighted by a pair of running backs who hardly touch the ball when the starter is healthy. First off, it’s having the player who is the direct replacement for the starting RB on his team, just in case of injury. Secondly, trade rumors are swirling, and with the deadline coming up after Week 9, should some big name RBs get traded, that’s going to open up some touches for certain players.
You want to have those players already on your roster. Alex Cupps identifies those players and more in the early waiver wire column. ⤵️

Week 7 Winners/Losers: Happy Return for Mason
Jordan Mason returning to the field for the Vikings has been one of the most anticipated returns from injury in this still-young season. The Week 1 thumb injury knocked him out through the Vikings’ Week 6 bye, and with the unbeaten team being an early success story, getting a fully loaded running game to complement that stifling defense to lighten the load on Kyler Murray.
Did Mason get back the role that so many had predicted for him during the offseason? Adam Pfeifer broke it down in the Week 7 winners and losers. ⤵️
