Training Camp News and Notes for Fantasy Football: Keenan Allen Signs with the Colts
Matt LaMarca breaks down the latest fantasy football news from NFL training camps, including Keenan Allen's addition to the now-crowded Colts wide receiver corps.
Another day of training camps is in the books, and we continue to inch closer to NFL action. Unfortunately, not everyone will make it through unscathed. Football is a contact sport, and despite NFL teams doing their best to keep everyone healthy, we’re starting to see some injuries pop up.
Let’s dive into a few key injury updates for 2026 fantasy football, as well as some of the other biggest developments from Tuesday’s camp reports.
Training Camp Updates for Fantasy Football
Keenan Allen Signs with Colts
Keenan Allen was one of the best players still unsigned, coming off an 81-catch, 777-yard season last year with the Chargers. With Alec Pierce’s recovery from offseason ankle surgery moving slowly, the Colts decided to take a chance on the 34-year-old receiver. His deal is reportedly for one year and $8.32M, and while he’s not the player that he was in his prime, he’s still a solid addition for a team that could use another receiver.
That said, the fit is kinda weird. Allen has never exactly been a field-stretcher, so it’s hard to imagine him filling the same role as Pierce. He figures to do most of his damage in the same areas as Tyler Warren and Josh Downs, so you could argue that adding him is a bit superfluous.
Adam Pfeifer did a deep dive into Allen’s fantasy outlook following the signing, and Dwain McFarland updated his projections for the entire Colts WR room. Let’s be honest… this can’t be good news for the rest of the team’s pass-catchers. We’ve been pretty excited about Downs, in particular, around these parts, but we might need to throw a bit of cold water on our optimism.
Giants Add Najee Harris to the Mix
Are the Giants looking to build an all-RB roster? It’s possible. They already had Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary on the roster, and they officially added Najee Harris on Tuesday. He signed a one-year deal, reuniting with Greg Roman after the two linked up with the Chargers last year.
Harris doesn’t figure to be a big part of the equation, but it’s another reason to potentially be skeptical of Skattebo. He’s being drafted pretty aggressively (42.1 overall, RB18), but it’s hard to imagine him being a bell cow with so much competition for touches.
Breece Hall, Kenyon Sadiq Ready for Week 1?
Rich Cimini gave Jets’ fans and fantasy players some heart palpitations yesterday with this scary tweet about Breece Hall:
Fortunately, Hall appears to have avoided disaster. He’s been diagnosed with a groin strain, and head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters he’s going to miss the next two to three weeks. That means that Hall should be good to go for Week 1. Having an injury before the start of the year is never a good thing, but drafters don’t need to downgrade Hall too much. Braelon Allen would be the guy to own if Hall were to miss time, so he becomes a bit more appealing as a late-round flyer.
Additionally, Glenn told reporters that Kenyon Sadiq will be ready to go for Week 1. Unfortunately, it’s hard to imagine the talented rookie making a huge impact to start the year. He’s missed most of training camp and is currently behind Mason Taylor on the depth chart. Sadiq could still have a big late-season role, but fantasy owners are going to have to be patient here. He’s probably a better waiver-wire target during the year than bench stash in drafts.
Parker Washington Day-to-Day
The Parker Washington hype train has hit a minor speed bump. Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports that Washington is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury and is expected to miss the rest of the week.
The good news is that Washington is expected to return next week, which means he’s in no real risk of missing any meaningful time. Washington erupted down the stretch last season, and he has garnered more buzz than nearly any player in football during training camp. The Jaguars’ wide receiver room is still pretty crowded, but Washington appears to be the guy to target.
Josh Jacobs Returns to Practice
Josh Jacobs remains one the most high-risk, high-reward options in fantasy football. His ADP is clearly discounted at the moment (33.9; RB16), but he’s facing multiple obstacles to get on the field. He’s missed most of training camp with a groin injury, and he could still be suspended for violating the league’s Personal Conduct policy. He’s also facing a challenge from MarShawn Lloyd, who appears to be healthy for the first time since being drafted in 2024.
The good news is that Jacobs has at least cleared the first of those hurdles. He returned to practice on Tuesday, and he still profiles as the Packers’ clear RB1 when available. How often he’s actually available still remains to be seen, but it’s at least a bit of good news in what has otherwise been a dismal offseason.
Keon Coleman in Walking Boot
Keon Coleman scored the first touchdown in the history of the Bills’ new stadium, but that may end up being the highlight of his season. He was already facing an uphill battle for playing time after the addition of DJ Moore, and now he is reportedly in a walking boot. The details of his injury are still unknown, but it’s possible he’s looking at a lengthy absence. He can be pretty safely avoided in all but the deepest of leagues.
