Week 7 Fantasy Football Rankings Standouts: Tyler Higbee & More Players HIgher/Lower Than Consensus

Alex Cupps compares his Week 7 fantasy football rankings to Fantasy Life's consensus ranks to identify who he is highest and lowest on.

Published Updated

Welcome to the Week 7 fantasy football rankings edition of Cupps’ Cupboard! Every Friday this season, I’m going through my rankings for the upcoming week of games - identifying the players I have the biggest deltas on compared to Fantasy Life’s expert consensus, along with examining advanced metrics and utilization data.

As someone with a data-heavy background and overall approach to fantasy football, my rankings are created using a blend of several inputs:

  • Fantasy Life weekly fantasy football projections, adjusted using fantasy football defense vs. position (DvP) rankings
  • Prediction market data (essentially taking the current prices on various yardages, touchdowns, receptions, etc., and creating implied fantasy point projections)
  • Vegas prop lines (rush/rec yards + receptions for pass catchers, pass/rush yards for quarterbacks). I will commonly refer to this as a player’s ‘Vegas Base’ projection: essentially, the floor a player offers without any touchdown odds

Using these sources as a baseline, I create my own hybrid projection system for each position and adjust from there.

Quarterback I Am High On In My Week 7 Fantasy Football Rankings

CLE_browns-logo.svgDeshaun Watson

  • Fantasy Life: QB18
  • My Rank: QB13 (+5)

I never thought I’d be saying this in the big 2026 … but Deshaun Watson is a borderline QB1 for me this week.

On paper, the matchup isn’t anything crazy. The Browns play Tennessee this week, who are currently 6th in DvP against the QB position this year (allowing 2.65 fewer points on average).

I don’t know what it is about this game, but the market is insanely high on Deshaun. Higher than I’ve seen them all season. Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections put him at QB22 (typically around the range you’d find Deshaun), but prediction market data has him as the implied QB10 on the week, and he has a Vegas base floor of 11.1 points (QB9)!

I am legitimately intrigued by Watson as a back-end QB1 streaming option this week.

QB I'm Low On In My Week 7 Fantasy Rankings

KC_chiefs-logo.svgPatrick Mahomes

  • Fantasy Life: QB13
  • My Rank: QB18 (-5)

Funny enough, I currently have Mahomes and Watson flip-flopped in my rankings. How could this possibly come back to bite me?

Mahomes and KC play the Seahawks in Week 7 - one of the toughest matchups for QBs. Seattle is 2nd in DvP, allowing 5.5 fewer points on average to the position. The data is definitely docking him here:

  • Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections: 11.9 points (QB26)
  • Prediction markets: 16.7 points (QB15)
  • Vegas base projection: 10.3 points (QB15)

The upside is always there with Mahomes in any given week, but this matchup against Seattle is absolutely brutal. I’m tempering expectations here.

Running Back I'm Higher On In My Fantasy Rankings For Week 7

PIT_steelers-logo.svgRico Dowdle

  • Fantasy Life: RB35
  • My Rank: RB30 (+5)

Rico Dowdle is far from the sexiest pick for an RB play in Week 7, but he has a lot going for him this week. The Steelers draw New Orleans, the stone-worst run defense in the league. At 32nd in DvP, they’re giving up nearly 6 points more to the RB position on average so far this year.

The data backs up Dowdle here:

  • Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections: 8.7 points (RB24)
  • Prediction markets: 7.6 points (RB23)
  • Vegas base projection: 4.5 points (RB27)

There are much worse options than Dowdle this week, who profiles to me like a high-end RB3 rather than a low-end one.

RB I'm Lower On In My Fantasy Football Rankings For Week 7

DAL_cowboys-logo.svgJavonte Williams

  • Fantasy Life: RB7
  • My Rank: RB11 (-4)

Williams still comes in as an RB1 for me this week, but he finds himself closer to the back end than usual. The Cowboys get the Eagles in Week 7, who rank 5th in DvP and allow 2.3 points less on average to the RB position. Looking at the data on Javonte:

  • Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections: 13.5 points (RB13)
  • Prediction markets: 14.5 points (RB10)
  • Vegas base projection: 9.1 points (RB13)

If you have Javonte, you’re obviously starting him - I’m just a little lower on the ceiling here against a brutal Eagles defense.

Wide Receivers I'm Higher On In My Rankings For Week 7

TB_buccaneers-logo.svgChris Godwin

  • Fantasy Life: WR47
  • My Rank: WR31 (+16)

Even though I’m notably down on Godwin as a talent this season, I find myself extremely high on him in Week 7 specifically. The matchup against Carolina isn’t anything to write home about (10th in DvP, 2 points less to WRs on average), but the data behind Godwin this week is pretty crazy:

  • Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections: 7.5 points (WR36)
  • Prediction markets: 8.4 points (WR29)
  • Vegas base projection: 6.4 points (WR27)

Baker should be returning in this matchup, which will *hopefully* provide a much-needed spark to this passing offense. I think you could do a lot worse than Godwin here as a mid-range WR3.

MIN_vikings-logo.svgJordan Addison

  • Fantasy Life: WR38
  • My Rank: WR32 (+6)

Similar to Godwin, Jordan Addison is another receiver I have inside my top 36 receivers this week that fall out of that range in the Fantasy Life expert rankings.

The Vikings get the Colts in Week 7, another matchup that is relatively middle-of-the-road (11th in DvP, 1.7 points less to WRs on average), but he comes out pretty solidly in the market this week:

  • Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections: 7.1 points (WR40)
  • Prediction markets: 8.3 points (WR30)
  • Vegas base projection: 6.1 points (WR29)

I’m not as high on Addison as I am on Godwin as a solid WR3 here, but he’s definitely in the same tier for me.

WRs I'm Lower On In My Week 7 Fantasy Football Rankings

HOU_texans-logo.svgNico Collins

  • Fantasy Life: WR9
  • My Rank: WR14 (-5)

I love Nico Collins. He’s one of my favorite WR talents in the entire league. But in a matchup against the New York Giants - currently 9th in DvP against WRs - the data has some hesitancy around him as a true WR1 this week:

  • Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections: 11.5 points (WR19)
  • Prediction markets: 12.8 points (WR14)
  • Vegas base projection: 9.0 points (WR17)

As I talked about with Javonte Williams … if you have Nico Collins, you’re not benching him. These projection numbers do have me a little curious, though - are we going to see more Marvin Harrison Jr. this week? What about Jaylin Noel? Will the target distribution begin to flatten out over the coming weeks in Houston? I don’t personally think so, but the data definitely has him lower this week than previous weeks.

OAK_raiders-logo.svgTre Tucker

  • Fantasy Life: WR32
  • My Rank: WR39 (-7)

Tre Tucker has been on an absolute heater recently, but it’s been just that - a heater. As in, he’s running hot and due for some regression, unfortunately. In Week 6 against the Bills, Tucker exploded for 26.7 points, on only 14.2 expected points. This 12.5-point overperformance made him the second-largest overperformer last week out of 110 receivers.

Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections are pretty high on Tucker, at 8.2 points (WR31). However, the market is a bit lower. Prediction markets have him at 7.5 points (WR38), and Vegas base projection puts him at 5.8 (WR34). He’s still a reasonable mid-range WR3 play, but I prefer some of the guys I mentioned earlier in Godwin and Addison.

Tight End I'm Higher On In My Week 7 Rankings

LA_rams-logo.svgTyler Higbee

  • Fantasy Life: TE10
  • My Rank: TE4 (+6)

Tyler Higbee is absolutely SKYROCKETING up my weekly rankings. With Davante Adams on IR and Puka Nacua popping up with a calf injury in Thursday’s practice, we might just see Higbee serve as Stafford’s #1 target this upcoming week.

Couple that with the fact that the Las Vegas Raiders are 29th in DvP against the tight end position and allow around 4.2 more points on average, and we have the makings of a pretty interesting tight end streaming option:

  • Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections: 9.1 points (TE6)
  • Prediction markets: 10.2 points (TE6)

If I have Higbee, I’d be hard-pressed to sit him this week unless you have a surefire top-3 option at the position. And even so, he makes for a pretty interesting flex option.

TE I'm Low On In My Fantasy Football Ranks For Week 7

NO_saints-logo.svgJuwan Johnson

  • Fantasy Life: TE13
  • My Rank: TE17 (-4)

Juwan Johnson is a *fine* play in Week 7, but he’s definitely been on the downtrend in recent weeks. After four solid weeks to kick off the season, he’s now put up two straight weeks with a Utilization Score (presented by Tenex.ai) under 50 and outside the top 12 tight ends. In week 7 specifically, the projections aren’t much better:

  • Fantasy Life’s DvP-adjusted projections: 6.6 points (TE13)
  • Prediction markets: 7.2 points (TE16)
  • Vegas base projection: 4.8 points (TE16)

I’m afraid we’re nearing the end of our rope with Johnson as a solid TE1 option, especially with Jordyn Tyson set to return soon. If you drafted him as your go-to tight end, I’d look to move sooner rather than later to another more reliable guy going forward.
