Most-Chopped Players For Week 3 In Guillotine Leagues™️: Puka Nacua, Jaxson Dart & More
Jorge Martin examined the 10 most-chopped players in Guillotine Leagues heading into the Week 3 waiver wire.
Well, Monday Night Football of Week 2 sure was a barrel full of monkeys, wasn’t it? From a pregame inactive that shocked not just Guillotine LeaguesTM , but all of fantasy football, to a pair of significant injuries during the game, let’s just say we got further proof that the NFL can stand for “Not For Long” when it comes to feeling comfortable with your fantasy team.
But we’re alive, somehow, because if you’re reading this it means the blade fell elsewhere in your league. There were some interesting players who were among the most chopped this week, with a few obvious ones that we’ll get into shortly. As always, when picking up players make sure to check out the fantasy football rankings and fantasy football projections to make as informed of decisions as possible.
Week 3 Most-Chopped Players for Guillotine Leagues
Puka Nacua | WR | Rams
This one hurt so many people, and it was hard to play it any other way with Puka Nacua than to wait until the inactives were announced before MNF. Getting a zero from a top-10 pick was a death knell. Now the word is that this groin injury could linger beyond Week 2. As incredible a talent that Nacua is, it’d be hard to make an aggressive bid with a player who could miss at least another game.
Saquon Barkley | RB | Eagles
The stinger that Saquon Barkley suffered on the first play from scrimmage was almost as painful as the chop felt by all those Guillotine League managers who are now no longer with us after he posted just 20 scrimmage yards. Saquon is getting an MRI, which could complicate an aggressive bid tomorrow. With a Week 8 bye, maybe a median bid will do to avoid the possibility that he could sit in Week 3.
Jaxson Dart | QB | Giants
Oh boy, watching Jaxson Dart’s leg go side to side did not look normal, and now the reports are that the knee injury was worse than expected, and could even mean season-ending surgery. Not recommending to pick him up at this point at all.
Colston Loveland | TE | Bears
Just a single reception for 3 yards is definitely not what we had on our bingo card for Colston Loveland through two weeks. The heavy rain had to play a part in the Bears scoring just a field goal against the Vikings, but the Caleb Williams injury will complicate things as long as he’s out. Now backup Tyson Bagent is in concussion protocol. Loveland catching passes from Case Keenum against the tough Philly defense, not an enticing option. Not the time to put in a heavy bid, unless you’re really hurting at TE.
Malik Nabers | WR | Giants
Can we please turn off injuries like in Madden? Postgame, Malik Nabers revealed that he had his shoulder “popped” back into place and returned long enough to catch 1 ball for 1 yard. However, with Jameis Winston getting pressed into duty, Nabers could get peppered with targets all season. A home game against the Titans could drive up the FAAB bid.
Brock Bowers | TE | Raiders
This one is interesting, because anyone bidding up for Brock Bowers last week probably did not expect to be on the chopping block a week later. Early word is that Bowers could return this week, but it’s hard to recommend an aggressive bid for a player rehabbing from surgery on the same knee that cost him several weeks last season. Like with Loveland, if you have a need at TE, drop a low bid to see if you get him. Even if he sits another week.
DJ Moore | WR | Bills
Hope was flowing between Bills Mafia and fantasy managers who thought they got a bargain on DJ Moore. Then the AC joint sprain knocked him out with -1 rushing yards and nary a target in a 41-31 shootout victory for the Bills. These injuries can linger, and early reports are cloudy about DJM’s return. As much as you’d like a piece of the Josh Allen Bills offense, be wary about overbidding on a player who could sit this week.
Bijan Robinson | RB | ATL
It’s not like Bijan Robinson had a bad game, with 81 scrimmage yards. This is a buying opportunity, as the Falcons get Michael Penix back to start on Thursday Night Football against the scuffling Packers. Bijan posting 173 total yards and a score like in Week 1 is a near-weekly possibility. Get ready to open up the FAAB purse strings.
Caleb Williams | QB | Bears
No shade is going to be thrown at Caleb Williams for his exit from rainy Soldier Field. Feeling bad enough that the engine of the Bears offense is likely going to miss time. Much as you’d like to have him on your squad, it might be best to let someone else bid up on him … and then maybe pick him up later after he’s been chopped again.
Drake Maye | QB | Patriots
Averaging 193 yards passing in two games is just not going to cut it. As my colleagues Kendall Valenzuela and Pete Overzet pointed out on the Fantasy Life Show, Drake Maye fantasy managers would’ve been better off with Tyler Shough starting for them these past two weeks. Road games in Jacksonville and Buffalo could mean shootouts, though with no A.J. Brown is Maye going to have the weapons to keep up? If you need a QB upgrade, a median bid could get you Maye ready to go on a run.
