Week 8 Players Rising in Guillotine Leagues ADP
Caleb Williams | QB | Bears | +20.8
ADP: 72.8
Before the season, Williams was going in a scrum with Jayden Daniels, Joe Burrow and a few other solid-to-great QBs. Following a great finish to his Year 2, what we’ve seen these past two games has been an amazing progression, especially coming off missing time with a hamstring injury. With a pair of games over 300 yards and 3 TDs total, he has the Bears offense firing on all cylinders. He will have his hands full in Seattle with the 12s in full-throated force on MNF coming off a primetime beatdown of the Chiefs. The Seahawks are No. 2 in fewest FPG allowed to QBs (9.9). But survive this week and his schedule really opens up.
Ollie Gordon | RB | Dolphins | +20.6
ADP: 53.4
Hand up if you didn’t know who Ollie Gordon was preseason? I’m right there with you. I thought Jaylen Wright was the RB to roster if De'Von Achane missed time—still hurts that he’s out for the season. Gordon has taken over the backfield for the Dolphins, with 43 rushes, 191 yards and 3 TDs in the past two games. That 89 UR score in Week 7 was pretty nice. The Patriots are 14th with 83.4 rushing yards allowed to RBs, but have given up solid games the past two weeks to Braelon Allen and D'Andre Swift.
KC Concepcion | WR | Browns | +18.5
ADP: 101.7
Did the breakout happen last week with his 8-129-0 performance? Well, Concepcion did have 8 and 9 targets, respectively, in Weeks 3 and 4. He just didn’t have much to show for it. The Browns have a nice rookie tandem of WRs, and Concepcion could be a nice flex pick late. Concepcion did have 5-64-0 against the Steelers on 9 targets earlier this season. Pittsburgh is 12th with 24.3 FPG allowed to WRs and no wideout has reached 100 receiving yards against that D. KCC may not hit big, but he should get some yardage.
Chig Okonkwo | TE | Commanders | +29.3
ADP: 128.9
Sending another one up for Terry McLaurin, who was lost for the season two weeks ago. Chig drew 7 targets in that game, giving a preview that he could be one of the top 2 options in the Commanders’ passing attack. The Eagles have been tough this season against the TE position (8.2 FPG, No. 9), so if you’re waiting at TE this might be the week to stream someone with a better matchup
Week 8 Players Falling in Guillotine Leagues ADP
Patrick Mahomes | QB | -15.4
ADP: 79
This is the product of a bad game on national TV. Scoring 3 points on SNF probably gave a lot of drafters pause. After what could be a tough game in Denver this week, Mahomes has a four-game stretch against some very beatable defenses. So he could ride you to the latter stages of the season when you should be able to replace him with a top-5 QB.
Omarion Hampton | RB | Chargers | -10.9
ADP: 79.4
It’s really hard to know what to expect from the Chargers coming out of the bye week, especially since Hampton managed just 7 rush attempts in Week 6. At this point in the draft, you’re likely picking flex plays. Remember that Hampton is a first-round pick from this GM-HC regime’s first draft, so there may be some bye-week reset to emphasize the running game. And Hampton is the guy who is built to handle the heaviest rushing load. The Rams are allowing 85.4 rushing yards (No. 16) to RBs, and they lost their top run stuffer in Poona Ford, so they might be vulnerable this week.
Rashee Rice | WR | Chiefs | -12.2
ADP: 80.4
Injury discount alert! Rice has missed the past two games because of a hamstring injury, and the Chiefs’ offense has sputtered. Mahomes hasn’t passed for 300 yards since Week 2. Rice did go for 7-88-0 in Week 3, his most recent game. The Broncos allow just 21.4 FPG to WRs, which is fourth in the league. If you draft Rice, do know he amassed just 19 yards on 2 receptions Week 1 when these AFC West rivals last met. But as mentioned above in the Mahomes blurb, the defenses become softer after this week.
Tyler Warren | TE | Colts | -13.3
ADP: 73.3
This is another injury discount after missing the past two games with a groin injury. Warren is back and practicing this week, albeit on a limited basis. The Colts could see pass catchers like Josh Downs and Keenan Allen leave the offense via trades, which would open up targets for him. Plus, they made a bad defense worse by trading DeForest Bucker, so Indy will be in catchup mode the rest of the season. That should mean more targets for Warren whenever he rejoins the offense.
