Week 8 Guillotine Leagues™ Bidding Advice: How Much FAAB To Bid On Josh Allen & More
Joe Metz breaks down how to approach the highly chopped players on the Week 8 waiver wire in Guillotine Leagues™.
If you're reading this, congratulations are in order for surviving Chop #7 on the Guillotine Leagues™ season (if you started in Week 1). Hopefully you were able to use last week's article to navigate the waiver wire successfully with some good offenses on byes.
Before I jump into the Week 8 Guillotine Leagues™ bidding advice regarding some of the most highly chopped players of the week (10%+), a handful of housekeeping items:
- Bid recommendations will be pulled directly from our Guillotine Leagues™ Waiver Wire Tool. The tool offers the ability to gauge bids by type (aggressive, conservative, average, etc.), league size, and recommendations relative to your remaining FAAB.
- The players included in this article will be among the 10 most chopped players from the previous week. This data is pulled directly from Guillotine Leagues™.
- Not every bid recommendation will come from the same settings. For example, if Ja'Marr Chase is on the waiver wire, I am more likely to bid aggressively on him than a mid-tier player further down the list, who I might place an 'average' bid on.
- If you have not yet synced your Guillotine Leagues™ with our fantasy football league sync—do it. There is no better way to get fully personalized and actionable recommendations to help you survive the chop.
- REMINDER: You can still create/enter new Guillotine Leagues™ ahead of Week 8 with single-chop leagues of up to 11 people. Join a league today!

FAAB Bidding Advice For Week 8 In Guillotine Leagues™
Chopped Players Due To Injury Or Bye Week
Week 7 was a quiet one when it comes to highly chopped players coming either out of a bye week or off injury. Only three of the top 10 most-chopped players were on a bye, and none of the top 10 suffered a significant injury.
Josh Allen (QB, BUF), 16.51% chopped: The overall QB1 (what's new?) found himself on a bye in Week 7 and immediately gets a potential shootout with the Ravens upon his Week 8 return. There is no quarterback with a higher floor/ceiling combination that you want in Guillotine Leagues™, and shoring up Allen with his bye week behind him allows you to not have to worry about the QB position the rest of the season. Recommended Bid: 35% (slightly above average of 32.5% from GL WW tool)
James Cook (RB, BUF), 16.15%: Like Allen, Cook found himself on a bye last week, and while losing goal-line scores to his QB hurts, he's been one of the most consistent and reliable RB1s this season. He has only two games this season outside of the top-15 RBs and four top-seven positional finishes while dominating the rush share (77%) and even posting three games with at least a 10% target share. He's an end-game player in this format that comes with a rock-solid floor and astronomical ceiling, and now, he has his bye week in the rearview mirror. Recommended Bid: 30% (Average)
Bhayshul Tuten (RB, JAX), 14.13%: Tuten's utilization has been trending up towards his eventual Week 6 breakout (22.7 points) before his bye last week. On the season, he's up to a 55% snap share, commanding 62% of the rush attempts and has seen his route rate increase in each of the last three weeks (41% -> 48% -> 57%). With a bye-free schedule ahead, a growing role and a high-powered offense, Tuten is a great bid this week. Recommended Bid: 20% (Average)
Highly Chopped Players To Bid On In Guillotine Leagues™ For Week 8 (Of Top-10 Most Chopped Players)
Derrick Henry (RB, DAL), 21.11% chopped: Back-to-back weeks outside of the top-36 RBs (RB40, RB44) will have you high atop the chop list in just about every league if your name is Derrick Henry. That being said, there's a light at the end of the tunnel with the hopeful return of Lamar Jackson. There are some bearish signals in his underlying utilization (68% rush share last week), but he's still logged at least 16 carries in every game, tied a season high with 12 routes run last week, and is the back still dominating the work inside the five-yard line. I'm going to be a bit more conservative than normal with my bid on him, knowing that this could be the age cliff starting to creep in, but the upside is still undeniable. Recommended Bid: 15-17% (Below average)
Kenneth Walker (RB, KC), 17.52%: Part of the reason I want to be conservative with Henry also has to do with other highly chopped RBs potentially being available. If Walker is one of them, he's the one I want to go in on aggressively. His 9.7 points for an RB32 finish marked the first time he's finished outside of the top 7 RBs this season, but a brutal matchup against the Seahawks makes me comfortable writing this one off. It was his first game of the year where he handled every rush attempt (yes, 100%), and he still posted a 16% target share on 53% of the routes. It was also the first week he was held without a carry inside the five-yard line. The Seahawks simply got the better of the matchup. Looking forward, he has no bye and is still averaging over 24 points per game. Bid aggressively. Recommended Bid: 55-60% (Above average)
Chuba Hubbard (RB, CAR, 12.56%): The Panthers flopped in Week 7, and there really wasn't an offensive player who survived the carnage. Even so, Hubbard's role is one I want to keep leaning into, especially in this format. He's finished as an RB1 in five of six games this season, has commanded 72% of the rush attempts with a 58% route rate, and only missed those marks in Week 7 because of a blowout. I'm not fretting a Jonathon Brooks return given his inability to prove he can stay on the field, let alone steal work from Hubbard, and the Panthers also have their bye week behind them. Recommended Bid: 22.5% (Average)
More highly chopped players to bid on: Garrett Wilson (WR, NYJ, 15.95% chopped), Jalen Coker (WR, CAR, 14.7%), Christian Watson (WR, GB, 11.59%), Germie Bernard (WR, PIT, 11.18%), Brock Bowers (TE, LV, 11.06%), Matthew Golden (WR, GB, 10.62%)
Players To Avoid Bidding On In Week 8 Guillotine Leagues™
The theme of the players to fade this week is Week 8 byes. All three were bounced due to poor performances in Week 7 and have pretty significant long-term value in Guillotine Leagues™, but all have a looming Week 8 bye that makes it risky to invest in them a week early. I did not write notes on these players, as a Week 8 bye really is the only deterrent from a bid, but monitor these players ahead of Week 9 if they remain on the wire/get chopped again.
- Nico Collins (WR, HOU), 17.92% chopped
- Isaiah Likely (TE, NYG), 15.06%
- Brock Purdy (QB, SF), 13.08%
