Each week, Cooterdoodle will be breaking down all the pain and punishment that transpires in our very own BWW Punishment Eliminator League.

Back in September, 18 members of the Fantasy Life team entered the league with the understanding that only one could leave victorious. And as with any punishment eliminator league, only one could avoid embarrassment and humiliation.

That’s right, as the season progressed, 17 of us were forced to face a season-ending punishment as we were booted from the league forever.

Well, we’ve finally made it to the end.

BWW Punishment Eliminator League

Cue the music! We have a victor!

I repeat, we have a winner! And as we have every week this season, we have one final punishment that needs to be executed.

It seems like just yesterday we were wrapping up our 18-team draft, and everyone was sweating over our very first eliminator punishment. Times were so much simpler then.

Welcome back to the Fantasy Life BWW Punishment Eliminator League. It’s time to reveal who will pay the final price after having gotten so close to glory.

The punishment gods have spoken once again! Today we’ll go over:

  • The full recap of punishments
  • Week 17 Results
  • Week 17’s Proof of Punishment (PP)

If you’re new here, be sure to read a full breakdown of our 18-team best ball elimination league and last week’s recap.

But the rules are fairly simple: SURVIVE or face the consequences (read: the Punishment Generator).

The full recap of punishments

The 2023 season has been fun. Well, maybe less fun in this league format due to the constant fear and anguish that came with a weekly consequence looming on the horizon. That said, I assume that it’s at least been fun for everyone who's been following along!

Heading into Week 17, Matthew Berry and Dwain McFarland were the final two remaining. Before we get into the results and who must be punished, let’s take a quick walk down Memory Lane.

Here’s a full recap of our punishments this season:

  • Week 1: Write a Poem (Marcus)
  • Week 2: Momma is Going to Hate You (Matt)
  • Week 3: Binge It (Jonathan)
  • Week 4: Meow (Ian)
  • Week 5: The Spaghetti Policy (Waz)
  • Week 6: Hope You Have Good Friends (Kendall)
  • Week 7: Who Wants Lemonade? (Chris)
  • Week 8: Easy as A-B-C (Jake)
  • Week 9: Combine Time (Cooterdoodle)
  • Week 10: That’s Not Going to Taste Good (Jordan)
  • Week 11: Did Aaron Rodgers Do It Right? (Sam W)
  • Week 12: She is Not Going to Care (Pete)
  • Week 13: Ho Ho Who Should I Start? (Matt)
  • Week 14: Back to School (Eliot)
  • Week 15: Time to Teach Trigonometry (Geoff)
  • Week 16: Fantasy Life Festivus! (Sam H)
  • Week 17: …

And before we discuss the punishment from Week 17, let’s first get into the nitty gritty results and see who won the final showdown!

Week 17 Results

It seems only fitting that the Talented Mr. Roto and Fantasy Life’s very own lead analyst Dwain McFarland were the final two. These guys really know their stuff, even when forced to draft in a deep 18-team league with depleted rosters.

While I’m sad that I was eliminated, I do find comfort in the fact that these two made it all the way to the end.

But alas, there can only be one champion.

Here’s how the final round of our Fantasy Life BWW Eliminator league looked with some added context of risers and fallers:
Week 17 Results

We started with 18 teams, but the Punishment Generator took us out one by one. And now, at long last, Dwain has something to show for it.

Congratulations to our champion!

But wait…just because he’s been in The Avengers it doesn’t make Matthew immune to the Punishment Generator! He’s been eliminated like the rest of us and so must face the consequences.

The Punishment Generator cannot be escaped.

Proof of Punishment (PP)

It’s finally time for what you’ve all been waiting for. The final proof of punishment.

The Punishment Generator results were rolled out prior to Week 17 and revealed that the loser would have to complete the Some Like It Hot punishment. That’s right, the loser must graze on some spicy, not-so-easily-digestible French fries drenched in BWW’s Blazin’ hottest Knockout Sauce.

My mouth is burning just thinking about it.

So without further adieu, here’s Matthew's Week 17 punishment!

(Proof of Punishment video coming soon…)

For the last time in the 2023 season, here's a breakdown of all that transpired.

Nitty Gritty Breakdown:

  • Teams remaining: 1
  • Teams eliminated: Marcas, Freedman, Jonathan, Ian, Waz, Kendall, Chris, Jake, Cooter, Jordan, Sam W, Pete, Matt, Eliot, Geoff, Sam H, and Matthew
  • Punishment on Deck: Zip. Nada. Fin.

With Matthew's elimination, we can now close out our final chapter.

There’s no moving on to next week and no new punishment on deck. The losers have been eliminated, and we have our one true champion. Congratulations again to Dwain!
