DraftKings NFL DFS Picks For Ravens vs. Jaguars TNF Showdown Slate

Jason Cohen breaks down how to tackle the DraftKings NFL DFS showdown slate for Week 9's Thursday Night Football tilt between the Ravens and the Jaguars.

Week 9 of the NFL season is here. We are starting the week off with a Thursday Night Football matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens. The Jaguars are 10-point favorites in a 40-point total on the road. With Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley both out, this one could get lopsided, but it should still be an interesting DraftKings NFL DFS showdown slate.

I'm going to be breaking down the DraftKings NFL DFS picks for this game. First, I'll highlight some players that I want to target in the captain spot, who get a 1.5x FP boost. High-upside players are who I want to target here, and the lower the ownership, the better. I will then break down some flex position plays that I like to round out your lineups. Let's dive into it!

Week 9 TNF BAL vs. JAX DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown Picks

DraftKings NFL DFS Captain Picks

Trevor Lawrence - JAX QB ($15,900)

Trevor Lawrence is the first captain pick that I want to mention. He has been fantastic this season, completing 65.7% of his passes for 1,690 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just 4 interceptions in seven games, with a 112.6 passer rating. Over his last 17 games, he has 44 total touchdowns to just 11 interceptions, and the Jaguars are 14-3 in those games. Last week he went 10/14 for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Colts before leaving the game after the third quarter. Baltimore is allowing 228.2 passing yards per game and has given up 22 passing touchdowns, and the Jaguars' passing offense is much better than that.

Derrick Henry - BAL RB ($15,300)

Next, I'm going to mention Derrick Henry. He has 632 yards and 8 touchdowns on 158 carries this season, and before last week he was handling 69.3% of the Ravens' rushing attempts and 81% of their red zone carries. If Baltimore is going to score, it is probably going to be through Henry. Last week against the Bills, he had 11 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown, and added 2 catches. Lamar Jackson is on injured reserve with a thumb injury, and Tyler Huntley is out for the season with turf toe, so the Ravens are going to lean on Henry even more with rookie Joe Fagnano under center. In GPPs, I like getting to Henry at captain, as the Ravens will almost certainly be playing from behind and people will shy away from the Baltimore side.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. - JAX RB ($5,100)

My last captain pick for this showdown is Chris Rodriguez, but this one depends on the status of Bhayshul Tuten. Tuten did not practice at all this week and is a game-time decision, and he is coming off a 159-yard, 2-touchdown game against the Colts. Rodriguez has been the short-yardage back all season with 209 yards and 3 touchdowns on 45 carries.  Last week he had 6 carries for 41 yards and a 28-yard touchdown, even though he played just 12 snaps.

Flex Picks For BAL vs. JAX DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown Slate

Parker Washington - JAX WR ($9,400)

To start flex plays, I'm going to mention Parker Washington. He has 27 catches for 432 yards and 4 touchdowns on 48 targets through seven games, which is almost 7 targets per game. Last week was a quiet one for him, with 1 catch for 16 yards on 2 targets and a 10-yard rush, but that was because Lawrence only threw 14 passes in the blowout. He still led the receivers with 36 snaps, which was 67% of the offense. The Jaguars have a lot of mouths to feed with Brian Thomas, Travis Hunter, and Jakobi Meyers, but Washington has the touchdown upside to be a great flex play at his price.

Joe Fagnano - BAL QB ($8,400)

Joe Fagnano is a quarterback that I like to round out lineups. The undrafted rookie out of UConn will make his first NFL start after entering last week's game when Jackson and Huntley both went down. It was a rough debut, as he went 10/21 for 91 yards with an interception and a lost fumble while facing 30 pressures from the Bills. Fagnano also has an ankle injury, but he was able to practice on Monday, and Jesse Minter has named him the starter. He led the NFL with 509 passing yards in the preseason, and had a huge 2025 at UConn with 3,448 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just 1 interception. The Ravens are going to be trailing, which should keep the ball in his hands. He is a low-floor play, but he should come at a nice discount and gives us salary to get to the stars.

Cam Little - JAX K ($5,400)

To finish off the flex plays, I'm going to mention the kicker, Cam Little. He is 10/12 on field goals and 22/23 on extra points this season, with a long of 60 yards. He also hit a 57-yard field goal as time expired to beat the Eagles in London. He only has 12 attempts through seven games because Jacksonville scores so many touchdowns, and he didn't attempt a field goal against the Colts last week, but he made all 6 of his extra points. The Jaguars are heavy favorites, and the Ravens' defense should be able to stall some of these drives in the red zone, which leads to field goal chances. His range gives him a ceiling that is higher than most kickers.
