Dynasty Fantasy Football Mailbag For Week 6: What To Do About Justin Herbert?
Sam Wallace dips into the Week 6 dynasty fantasy football mailbag to answer Fantasy Life Discord questions.
Now that we're in Week 6, we've had plenty of time to assess our dynasty fantasy football rosters. Are we a contender? Should we be looking to trade off veterans for some youth? Those types of questions came in from the Fantasy Life Discord, and Sam Wallace compiled them into this week's mailbag.

If you were the Falcons, would you trade three first-round picks and a second-round pick to get Justin Herbert?
This is a newer one for me because I don't often play the role of "NFL General Manager." However, I am more intrigued by the idea of the Chargers recouping a ton of value for Justin Herbert, getting draft picks, and resetting the rookie contract for their QB than I am about another team giving all of that up.
The Falcons make sense if you think Herbert automatically makes them one of the top teams in the NFC. The NFC South has historically been bad enough where it easily makes them the best team in the division.
That said, I don't love the idea of Atlanta giving all of that up for Herbert
Should I trade away two '27 2nds & two '27 3rds for a '29 1st, a '29 2nd and BTJ? (For context, I am a top-2 team in this league and they are a bottom-2 team)
This might surprise some people, but I am fine making this trade. While I don't necessarily love the idea of getting Brian Thomas Jr. right now, his price has likely never been lower. Besides, the bigger prize is a future 1st-round pick which will only hold/increase in value over time.
Who knows … maybe Thomas can turn it around, or take the Marvin Harrison Jr. route and join a new team. Sometimes a change of scenery can be just what someone needs.
When is the time to cut Jordyn Tyson loose or do I continue to hold and hope he can be a flex start at the end of the year?
With bye weeks upon us, the answer to this is certainly going to be manager-specific. If you have the necessary depth (or waiver wire luck) to manage your bye weeks while still securing wins, I am fine holding Jordyn Tyson.
However, if you can't afford to let him eat up a bench spot because you need to start stacking wins or you might not make the playoffs, then it's fine letting him go.
If you want a singular answer…hold Tyson and hope we see some promising returns in the very near future.
So … Josh Jacobs? Any info given your proximity to Green Bay?
Honestly, I have no idea. I'm sure there are much smarter people than me out there who have better insight, but I'm simply operating under the assumption that he's not going to play this season.
If he does, then I'll be pleasantly surprised. Until I hear more, however, I'm staying the course.
Are there any surprising “cut-bait” players based on where you valued them this offseason?
BTJ has been wildly disappointing. While I did anticipate Parker Washington taking a step, I didn't think he—nor MHJ—for that matter) would fall off quite that hard.
Mark Andrews has looked like a shell of his former self this season and has just 1 TD. I'm unsure of dropping him because I don't know who else you'd play in his spot.
And finally … the aforementioned Justin Herbert, specifically in 1QB leagues. He's unplayable. At this point, I'd rather ride the Jameis Winston train in New York rather than trot out Herbert again. That just feels wrong to type, yet here we are.
Who is your favorite second-half offense that has yet to really take off?
He keeps showing up in this article but I refuse to believe Justin Herbert and the Chargers are going to be this bad for the entire season. There is too much knowledge and experience both on the coaching staff and on the field for it to be this bad for this long.
There are going to be better days ahead.
Who has been the biggest surprise fantasy star at each position this year?
QB - Kirk Cousins - despite having negative rushing yards for the season, Cousins is currently the QB6
RB - Jaylen Warren - while much of it came in Week 5, Warren is currently the RB8 (Rico Dowdle has missed the last three games, to be fair)
WR - Matthew Golden - as of this writing, the Packers have two top-12 wideouts (Watson WR3, Golden WR11)
TE - Isaiah Likely, currently the TE2, we'll see how long Winston continues to feature Likely
Time to start buying Jordyn Tyson or De'Zhaun Stribling yet?
I'll answer this in the same way I did the previous Tyson question. With bye weeks upon us, it's all about effectively managing your scarce roster spots. If you can look ahead a week (or two) and make plans to snag Tyson or De'Zhaun Stribling before (or during) their respective bye week, that makes a ton of sense.
At the same time, don't sacrifice wins that you need now for the potential "what if" of some of these other players.
Who is the current LVP (Least Valuable Player) when you factor in where they were drafted and why is it Omarion Hampton?
Omarion Hampton is certainly in the running, but I think I'm going to pick Colston Loveland as my LVP at this stage of the season.
It's baffling to me that Ben Johnson would rather feature Kalif Raymond over Loveland. Yes, those who drafted Hampton have certainly been burned, but there are plenty of RBs out there who you could have snagged to fill that hole. If you spent a premium draft pick on Loveland, at one of the most shallow positions in football, that's much harder to replace.
