Buy, Sell, Hold for Fantasy Football Week 6: Bhayshul Tuten, Ladd McConkey & More

Cooterdoodle breaks down players to buy, sell and hold in fantasy football leagues ahead of Week 6, including Bhayshul Tuten, DJ Moore and Ladd McConkey.

There’s been a growing discourse online surrounding the acquisition of players in fantasy football. The idea of “buying” is becoming a hot topic as elite players become far and few between.

Namely, the question swirling is this: “How the hell can I buy a player that’s good, when everyone knows they are good?”

And while that is a valid question, there are several points I’d like to address:

1. You wouldn’t believe what other people think about their own fantasy players.

Just last week someone messaged me privately to ask if they should make Trade A or Trade B. In both trade offers, they would have to sell away Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

I mean, he’s only the consensus WR5 in Fantasy Life’s rest-of-season rankings…

But, like I said, you wouldn’t believe...

2. You wouldn’t believe what other people think about their own fantasy players.

Oh wait! I already said this one.

But it applies twice, because your leaguemates will panic and devalue their players. And when that fear sets in, you don’t know what they’ll be willing to do with their own teams.

So go out there AND TRY.

But for those of you who are still in the camp of “I need to buy someone who I can actually acquire, and no one is selling elite players,” I do have a few risky options this week.

They are risky because they have question marks attached. But that’s why your leaguemates will let go of them…

Let’s move into our risky Buy, Sell, Hold for Week 6.

BUY: Veterans Affected By Injuries

DJ Moore | WR | BUF

  • Risk: repeated injuries

DJ Moore was everything we had hoped for in Week 1 when he was a top 10 WR.

Josh Allen obviously elevates him. Allen trusts him. The problem, however, lies in Moore’s health. He can’t seem to stay on the field with these re-aggravated injuries.

But if you’re willing to risk it and bank on Moore’s health, he will be a focal point in a high-powered offense anytime he’s on the field. Make sure you have a fantasy team that’s strong enough to withstand the potential wait that comes with Moore’s health journey.

A.J. Brown | WR | NE

  • Risk: return timeline unsure

This didn’t play out well. At all. Fantasy managers who drafted A.J. Brown wanted way more than just 26 yards through five weeks.

But an injury is an injury.

And it at least seems like Drake Maye was able to shake off his nasty no-good, very bad slump in Brown’s absence.

Germie Bernard | WR | PIT

There’s been some really nice buzz surrounding Bernard this week. Not only has he stepped up in Pittman’s absence, but Bernard has allegedly earned Aaron Rodgers' trust, which means something to Rodgers.

The only issue: Pittman won’t be out forever. And neither will Wilson.

Bernard might be just another few-week fill-in. Or, he might earn himself a spot as the Apple of Rodgers’ eye.

Ladd McConkey | WR | LAC

  • Risk: The Chargers are a fantasy football black hole.

Maybe the Chargers get their sh*t together. Maybe McConkey gets healthy soon. And maybe Ladd’s
hot start of 5-82-1 in Week 1 happens again this season.

Maybe?

Look. I’ll be honest. I have McConkey on my team, and I just want someone to buy him from me.

SELL: Running Backs with Competition Looming

Aaron Jones | RB | MIN

  • Risk: He’s earned the RB1 role.

Can Aaron Jones hold down the RB1 role in Minnesota even when Jordan Mason returns? That’s really what this boils down to. If you’re able to upgrade for a more reliable player, now is the time.

Once Mason comes back(likely after MIN’s bye in Week 6), we could see a timeshare that becomes painful for Jones managers.

Emanuel Wilson | RB | SEA

  • Risk: Your leaguemate will know you’re trying to dump him off.

Look, Emanuel Wilson has been exactly what we hoped for from a waiver savior in Jadarian Price’s absence.

  • Week 4: 25.5 pts
  • Week 5: 12.2 pts

But the threat of Zach Charbonnet has always been looming. You may have a few more weeks of Wilson, but at some point, this RB room could become an unpredictable three-headed monster at best.

And at worst, Wilson goes back to hiding on the bench…

HOLD: Tuten's Increasing Usage

Bhayshul Tuten | RB | JAX

  • Risk: Snap counts don’t mean sh*t if the points never come.

But… we hold.
