If AJ Brown Is Traded, Look Out For Big Fantasy Football Season From DeVonta Smith
In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Hims, an AJ Brown trade could mean a big year for DeVonta Smith, NFL Mock Draft and NFL Draft rumors.
They say actions speak louder than words, which is why we probably shouldn’t trust Philly GM Howie Roseman when he says, “AJ Brown is an Eagle.”
I mean, that’s technically true. At this very moment, AJB is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles organization … and yet no one believes that will be true after June 1 (waiting to move him until after this date will create around $7 million in 2026 cap savings).
While Roseman is being literal with us behind the podium, his actions this offseason scream “we’ve moved on” …
- The team signed both Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore in free agency
- Last week, they traded for Packers WR Dontayvion Wicks
- They have shown a ton of interest in this rookie WR class, specifically Omar Cooper (Round 1 target?) and Chris Bell (Round 2 target?)
Oh, and as if there couldn’t possibly be any more smoke surrounding a trade, both Philly beat Jimmy Kempski and Matthew have reported that sources within the Eagles' organization believe DeVonta Smith could “have a similar jump in production that Jaxon Smith-Njigba had in Seattle once DK Metcalf was out of the way.”
So ya, this feels like a done deal at this point.
And if you agree with me, there are some very fun angles you can take in current drafts:
1) Draft AJB in Round 3 (ADP: 29.1) and stack him with Drake Maye. This will get more expensive if/when he is traded to the Patriots.
2) Aggressively target DeVonta (ADP: 39.7). He’s a Round 2 value if AJB departs.
3) Load up on Dallas Goedert (ADP: 135.3) and Wicks (ADP: 198.9) while you are at it. They are still priced as if they will be third and fourth bananas instead of second and third options.
Best of all, none of these prices are a ruinous if AJB returns. It’s more or less a free roll on the trade. Dig in.

NFL Mock Draft: Lots of Momentum at No. 2
Since we’ve known what the Raiders are doing at No. 1 for about three months now—shoutout Fernando Mendoza’s gutty TD run to win the natty—the NFL Draft really starts at No. 2. And the debate we’ve been hearing is whether the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets, should take David Bailey or Arvell Reese. Reese is higher on our Big Board, as well as so many others. Bailey wrecked Big 12 opponents (among others) on the way to 14.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss. Who should the Jets take?
Matthew Freedman emerged from new dad life to update his latest mock draft, which includes the answer to the No. 2 questions, as well as five WRs going in the first round and Jeremiyah Love flying off the board in the top 5. We know how accurate Freedman is, and with it being so close to the actual draft kickoff in Pittsburgh, this is pretty close to the final draft board. ⤵️

NFL Draft Rumor Central: Cowboys Moving Up?
One of the unexpected great things about the NFL Draft is that teams, after months of speculation and intrigue, have to FINALLY show their cards when they actually pick the players. Or when they trade back when the player they really want is no longer there or they got too good an offer elsewhere. But almost as fun as the actual drafting is the rumor mill that is borne out of all the teams talking to one another and then the media. That can impact mock drafts on the way to the podium in Pittsburgh.
Kody Malstrom looked under the hood at three NFL Draft rumors to see if there is any “there” there. Could the Cowboys trade into the top 5? Are the Giants looking to trade down? Who do the Lions have their eyes on to beef up their o-line?
