John Laghezza breaks down the Week 5 London game matchup between the Eagles and Jaguars for fantasy football.

Far be it from me to roll my eyes at betting market spreads, but a 3.5-point open extends way more grace to these Eagles than I’m willing to, especially after a second straight loss that also cost them Saquon Barkley.

Jaguars vs. Eagles (London) Fantasy Football Matchup Breakdown For Week 5

Divert your eyes! Our unintended running theme of challenging any preseason range of outcomes could not be more evident than with the Eagles. Call me looney all you want because they’re still playing .500 ball; I don’t care — this offense came off to me as fraudulent before a multitude of injuries piled up.

First, DeVonta Smith goes down with a lower-body injury out of nowhere, and now it’s Saquon Barkley (hamstring) heading for a multi-week absence if the video’s any indication. Ugh. Terrible stuff all around for anyone wearing midnight green — Philadelphia currently ranks bottom-5 in yards/game (269.8), success rate (39.6%), EPA/play (-0.14), and average drive distance (24.3). Not great.

The most prominent question regarding Philly’s QB Jalen Hurts is whether he’s even startable at this point. While I’d be reticent to broadstroke him as finished, it’s entirely likely we’re entering stream-in-good-matchup-territory only. Think about it. Hurts averaged +20 fantasy points with a 101 passer rating through two weeks in games he was favored in, followed up by back-to-back stinkers mustering 26 points total (-0.31 EPA/dropback, 53.8% completion, 15.4% off-target, 71.5 passer rating). Now he’s missing top options in both phases of the offense, heading into a tough matchup, while also staring down Josh Hines-Allen, Foyesade Oluokun, and Ventrell Miller. Yeah, good luck with that …

Without Barkley, of course everyone immediately looked to shove each other for the services of Tank Bigsby. I get it, except he limped off the field late in the fourth quarter and already underwent core surgery. Ouch. Anyway, despite solidly leading backfield touches 14-6 after Barkley’s departure, Will Shipley actually ran nearly double the routes and earned both goal-to-go carries — so say hello to a very unlikely waiver wire headliner and fantasy starter.

Without Smith, Dontayvion Wicks predictably assumed an every-down role, though Hurts’ 20% off-target rate when looking his way hurt them both. Makai Lemon ran 27 routes, though only two came from 12-personnel, leaving third-year UDFA Darius Cooper runway to lead PHI in targets (7) — including two scores to double his career total. Both TDs came ironically from the slot, much to the chagrin of Lemon managers everywhere. Fantasy can be so cruel.

  • Sleeper: RB Will Shipley

Even in the face of top-tier grades in crucial macros like EPA/play (+0.12), success rate (49.8%), and points/drive (2.8), Jacksonville’s 12th in PPG and just 14th in total team fantasy points scored. Lots of good, but not much great. Nevertheless, they average 26.0 PPG, and it’s hard to believe Brenton Strange’s recent (7-95-0) outing versus Cincinnati was the first and only top-10 positional finish by any Jaguar in 2026? It’s true …

Last week we covered Trevor Lawrence’s play falling off throughout contests due to game script. He’s averaging 5.0 fantasy points/quarter (20-point pace) through the first three quarters, which plummets to 1.3 in the fourth. Yes, somehow T-Law’s scored 5.2 total fantasy points in all four 4Qs combined. That’s 60 minutes of play! Now mix in the fact that Jacksonville is bottom-3 in plays/game (56.3) and average play-clock at snap (7.3) — and it becomes difficult to start projecting much more volume going forward. Still startable, it’s a hard truth … Lawrence comes capped.

Bhayshul Tuten barely outscored backup Chris Rodriguez Jr., though it’s not totally his fault. Tuten had not one, but two separate TDs called back (44, 3) for penalties. Warranted or not, those flags hurt. Look at the stats: good times are coming (4.02 yards after contact/attempt, 53.0% success, 10.0% explosive rush rate). Still waiting to crack 18 fantasy points in a single game, Tuten’s definitely worth sending out offers for, just in case his manager’s game-log chasing.

Parker Washington’s down to fantasy’s WR19, though at (26.3% target/route, 2.30 yards/route) as a full-time player in a Liam Coen offense, he’s an easy buy-low to me. Ditto for doubling down on team route leader Jakobi Meyers, whose track record for target-earning in this system can’t be overlooked. Jaguars face the Texans before a bye but then should hit the ground running in a string of softer matchups. Patience is definitely a virtue here.

  • Start: QB Trevor Lawrence, RB Bhayshul Tuten, WR Parker Washington, WR Jakobi Meyers
  • Sit: RB Chris Rodriguez Jr.
  • Sleeper: TE Brenton Strange

Next Week's Bold Headline, Today

Philadelphia’s victories over the Commanders or Titans feel an eternity away and are now fully predicated on the level of competition. Jacksonville’s too much to handle in every phase of this one, as we begin to reimagine a new Eagles’ offense with very little fantasy appeal.
