QB Moves & 2 Rookie WRs To Target In Fantasy Football

QB Moves & 2 Rookie WRs To Target In Fantasy Football

In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Hims.

Yesterday was a wild one of for the QB position.

  • Jacoby Brissett traded to the Ravens! We are spared from “Joe Fagnano” and our Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers bags get a second lease on life.
  • Sam Darnold is out, Drew Lock is in. Darnold has a quad injury, which means Lock is very much on the streaming radar vs. the Cardinals.
  • Tanner McKee is out, Joe Milton is in. Just stay far away from the Eagles in fantasy this week.

TLDR: don’t drop Brissett yet and feel free to stream Lock.

While you are making moves, can I interest you in a couple of buy-low rookie WRs?

🛒 Saints WR Jordan Tyson

Tyson finally returned to practice yesterday after spending the entire start to the season on IR with a hamstring injury. And while he may not be ready for Sunday against the Browns, it’s clear he’s going to return soon.

I know he’s been out of sight out of mind, but let’s not forget, he was Dwain McFarland’s No. 1 WR in the 2026 class and checked nearly every box as a prospect.

With Tyler Shough at QB and a very nice ROS schedule for the Saints (it includes a juicy playoff schedule: @TB, vs. ARI, @ATL), Tyson has league-winning potential at affordable prices.

If he’s somehow still lingering on a waiver wire—he’s rostered in only 80% of leagues right now), make your move ASAP.

🛒 Titans WR Carnell Tate

While Tate is certainly not lingering on any waiver wires, he’s the buy-low of the week with the Titans on bye and after sitting out in Week 8 vs. the Bengals with a shoulder injury.

But look at the role before he got hurt:

  • 45% of the Titans’ air yards (4th in the league)
  • 27% target share (11th among all WRs)
  • 74% WOPR (behind only Puka Nacua, DeVonta Smith, CeeDee Lamb and Jaxon Smith-Njigba)

With Cam Ward coming off the best game of his career and a soft schedule from Week 10 on—Dallas, Jacksonville, Washington, Detroit, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh—Tate will be a late-season hammer for managers savvy enough to acquire him during this dip.

How About Some Peace Of Mind?

There’s a peace of mind that comes with knowing you have certain players on your fantasy roster. That Joe Burrow-Ja’Marr Chase stack is just so sweet. See Jahmyr Gibbs in that RB1 slot, you can just write him down for 100+ scrimmage yards and a couple TDs. And Trey McBride, just chalk him up for 10+ targets and elite WR numbers out of the TE slot.

Peace of mind is also important when it comes to your home, family and connected life. Introducing Xfinity Shield, a defensive line for your home and devices. Users can opt-in to built-in WiFi protection features such as:

Week 9 Starts and Sits From Dwain McFarland

START: Rashee Rice | WR | Chiefs

The Chiefs haven't found a replacement for Rice in the WR room, and Xavier Worthy was a dud while Rice was out. In Rice's first game back (hamstring), his 61% route share was lackluster, but he returned to his target-earning form with a 26% targets-per-route run (TPRR).

He collected 18.3 points against the Broncos in Week 8. He operated from the slot 42% of the time and was back to his underneath role with a 2.1 average target depth and 7.0 average route depth. Denver is the 7th-hardest matchup for WRs (-3.0 PPG) and the 5th-hardest slot matchup (-2.1).

After the game, Andy Reid noted that Rice's routes were part of workload management coming off the injury. That should ramp. In fact, Rice saw a career-high 85% route share over the first three weeks of the season.

This is a great setup for Rice moving forward. He could return to his old target-dominating form with a full-time role to boot.

The Chiefs are 9.7-point favorites over the Jets, which could mean plenty of Kenneth Walker. But they have a 27.9-point team total (4th). And Kansas City has passed on 80% of plays in the red zone (4th). New York is the 8th-hardest WR matchup (-2.9 PPG), but I don't care with this total. Plus, Rice finished WR9 against the Broncos.

Zain Dhanani's Receiver Score data, which accounts for defensive coverages and alignment against Rice's role, sees this as a neutral matchup.

Fantasy Projections

Rice is a mid-range WR2 with WR1 upside in Week 9.
