Seattle Seahawks vs. Kansas City Chiefs Fantasy Football Matchup Breakdown For Week 7
John Laghezza breaks down the Chiefs vs. Seahawks matchup for the Week 7 fantasy football slate.
Seattle hosts Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in an attempt to do something no one else has been able to do against them in 2026 … win. It won’t be easy for Sam Darnold and Co., coming off back-to-back losses in lackluster efforts, but it’s imperative for the Seahawks to defend their home turf and avoid sinking below .500. Frankly, I’m not sure where 42 points will even come from …

Kansas City Chiefs Fantasy Preview For Week 7
How do they do it? Now working on a third completely re-tooled iteration of his Chiefs’ vision, one thing’s remained constant for Andy Reid … winning. Even as a massive Kenneth Walker backer all summer, who could’ve foreseen a new rushing identity translating into the league’s top squad in regard to yardage, both per game (414.0) and per play (6.7)? Speaking of the goat, you’re starting the overall RB2 (27.6 points/game) even if he’s facing an extremely tough Seahawks ground defense (0.24 EPA/attempt, 66.7% success, 3.5 yards/carry). Remember when we were told Walker couldn’t catch passes? Tell that to his 15.0% team target share … what a beast.
Not sure I’m too interested in anyone else facing Seattle’s defense, leading the NFL in yards allowed/play (4.0), takeaways (11), average drive distance (21.1), and 3&Out rate (45.1%). Sure, Patrick Mahomes is playing well on the whole as the QB15 (0.16 EPA/dropback, 103.1 passer rating, 8.3 yards/attempt), but a lot of that was front-loaded, and I warned you it would likely fall off. He’s failed to rack up a QB1 finish in three straight, and I doubt that streak ends Sunday night.
Dropping back to pass 33 or fewer times each of the last four contests has put a strain on fantasy production among KC pass catchers. Xavier Worthy’s coming off one of his better games as a pro, though it took a 100% catch rate (7/7) to get to that WR23 finish. Meh. He’ll likely run all the routes once again with Rashee Rice yet to practice; I just worry there’s not enough attention being spread around to spring him loose. You can always start Mahomes’ number one; just keep expectations tempered. I’d echo the same sentiment for Travis Kelce, who’s failed to score in the double digits for two straight. Obviously, he can fall in the end zone any given week, but Seattle defends the position very well, allowing just 4.6 fantasy points/game to tight ends.
- Start: Kenneth Walker (RB4), Xavier Worthy (WR36)
- Sit: Patrick Mahomes (QB14)
- Sleeper: Travis Kelce (TE6)
Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Preview For Week 7
After starting 2026 like gangbusters by winning two in a row, allowing just 17 points combined, I bet lots of 12th men and women up in the PNW were planning a second championship parade. Not so fast there, fella. Seattle’s dropped three of four, allowing over 26 PPG despite just 4.0 yards/play. The culprit? Turnovers! Sam Darnold’s thrown seven INTs in that same time frame (4.8% INT), and I can’t help but wonder when it’s time to mention a very difficult topic of conversation.
Winning a Super Bowl definitely buys you some leash, but how much? Who knows. It’s also possible he rushed back from the glute injury that kept him out for two weeks. I don’t know; it sounds like a real pain in the butt to me. Kidding aside, we’re at the point where the numbers become hard to deny. Just check out how stark the differences are between Sam Darnold (11.8 points/game, -0.14 EPA/dropback, 60.4% completion, 77.4 passer rating, 6.9 yards/attempt) and Drew Lock (17.1 points/game, +0.37 EPA/dropback, 72.9% completion, 127.3 passer rating, 8.8 yards/attempt). Crazy, right? Again, a win against KC will erase all the bad memories, but there’s another tough matchup on deck versus the Bears.
If there’s a silver lining for Darnold, it’s the return of Zach Charbonnet, who played great down the stretch in 2025 before getting hurt. This Seahawks run game’s been atrocious to date, gaining less than four yards per carry on the NFL’s worst EPA/attempt (-0.25). Perhaps a legitimate threat in the backfield will draw in extra defenders, leaving a little room for their extremely heavy pass attack to operate.
Speaking of which, it’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba or bust (27.1 points/game, 32.8% target/route, 3.57 yards/route). At this point it’s a fool’s errand to chase SEA’s pass-catching room for fantasy points anywhere else. Throughout ups and downs, wins and losses, plus a quarterback change, not a single other Seahawk cracked the top-25 once all year. They’ll have to show me actual target distribution before I make that mistake again.
- Start: Zach Charbonnet (RB21), Jaxson Smith-Njigba (WR1)
- Sit: Sam Darnold (QB22)
- Sleeper: AJ Barner (TE20)
