Trevor Lawrence Continues Ascension Among Elite QBs

Ian Hartitz surveys the field for Trevor Lawrence to move into the elite quarterbacks for fantasy football.

For a while there, we had questions if Trevor Lawrence was indeed the prince who was promised for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and fantasy football. Then he put on a closing kick to last season that not only won people their leagues, but vaulted him into the top tier of QBs. Is he there to stay? Ian Hartitz breaks it down as part of his Jacksonville Jaguars Team Preview.

Was 2025 just the beginning of Trevor Lawrence's coronation as an elite fantasy QB?

Trevor Lawrence struggled during the first half of 2025, but caught fire late and averaged a whopping 23 fantasy points per game following the team's Week 9 bye–the highest mark among any QB! Of course, a whopping 9 rushing touchdowns helped T-Law's cause—he averaged just 3.5 scores on the ground during his first four professional seasons.

That's where the big concern is: Lawrence didn't really make that big of a leap as a passer this season in most metrics other than touchdown rate (career-high 5.2%). The leap in fantasy land was actually a bit similar to 2025 Patrick Mahomes in that the additional fantasy points were almost entirely due to the extra rushing production.

The schedule down the stretch was also a bit Saints-esque. Kudos to T-Law for putting his best foot forward regardless of the opponent, and his 270-3-0 boom in Denver was AWESOME, but otherwise from Week 12-18 we're talking about facing the Colts (x2, 17th in EPA per dropback), Cardinals (26th), Titans (x2, 29th) and Jets (32nd).

Lawrence has always passed the eye test when it comes to size, arm talent and mobility. Some of the throws he made last season while running full speed to his left were particularly impressive. Still, even I was surprised to see how … meh a lot of his passing efficiency numbers were in his "breakout" season.

Trevor Lawrence among 43 QBs with 150+ dropbacks in 2025:

  • EPA per dropback: +0.12 (17th)
  • Completion percentage over expected: -1.9% (31st)
  • Passing success rate: 48.7% (14th)
  • Yards per attempt: 7.2 (18th)
  • Passer rating: 91.0 (20th)
  • PFF pass grade: 81.5 (7th)

Then again, that last figure reflects the reality that some of the lack of success through the air wasn't on T-Law. Rumor has it the Jaguars' wide receiver room has a never-ending supply of butterfingers: Nobody had more drops in 2025 (39), and the Jags also lead the league since 2021 (162) as a whole. Their rank in "Supporting Cast Rating" has been 28th, 20th, 30th, 25th, and, most recently, 14th during Lawrence's five years under center.

Ultimately, Lawrence comes in as Fantasy Life's consensus QB9 just ahead of guys like Brock Purdy, Jaxson Dart and Dak Prescott, but behind Justin Herbert and Caleb Williams. Good news: T-Law's QB10 ADP is reasonable and in line with the ranking; he's a rock-solid mid-range option with the potential to break into the position's top-5 if last year's second-half ascension proves to be the new status quo and less of a blip on the radar.
