Zay Flowers vs. Jaylen Waddle: Who's The Better Fantasy Football Draft Pick In 2026?
Danny Cross examines a pair of wide receivers who are neck-and-neck in the 2026 projections, but further off from each other in ADP, diving into which is the better pick in your 2026 drafts.
The 2026 fantasy football wide receiver landscape offers tantalizing options at every price point, but that doesn't mean we can pass on every early-round WR in favor of chasing most of their production at a discount.
With running backs commanding a premium price tag these days, we need to make some tough calls among a couple of dozen WR1s and WR2s in 2026. Deciding when to make the early investment versus betting on a cheaper player will go a long way toward deciding fantasy titles in 2026.
Let's take a look at a pair of wide receivers who are back-to-back in the 2026 fantasy football projections—Zay Flowers vs. Jaylen Waddle—but relatively far apart in fantasy football ADP to determine which is the better 2026 fantasy football selection.
Zay Flowers vs. Jaylen Waddle: Who Should You Draft In 2026?
The Case for Zay Flowers
- Underdog ADP: 30.8 (WR14)
Flowers enters 2026 fantasy drafts with serious momentum after posting an overall WR7 (total points) finish last season. The third-year man emerged as the clear No. 1 option in Baltimore, earning a 30% target share and .26 targets per route run in 2026, both career-highs. All signs point to another lead role in the Ravens' passing game after the team added only third- and fourth-rounders to the WR room in the form of Ja'Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt.
The question for fantasy managers investing an early third-round pick in Flowers is: What is the WR1 role in Baltimore really worth?
The Ravens attempted the fewest passes in the league last season (422) by far. Their 23 TD passes tied for 10th-fewest. Lamar Jackson missed four games, but none of this was far outside the norm for Baltimore's run-first offense.
Recall that last season Flowers entered Week 18 as the overall WR12 before exploding for 29.8 PPR points the week after the fantasy playoffs ended. That one spike week bumped his per-game figure by a full point, from 13.3 (WR19) to 14.3 (WR13). Playing all 17 games helped Flowers volume his way to an overall WR7 finish, but the weekly output was not as game-changing as that sounds.
The arrival of new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle should add a new dimension to the Ravens' offense. Flowers is a former first-rounder and clearly a talented player, but he'll need to hit a couple of deep TDs and/or increase his red-zone usage to top last year's figures, both of which could be tough with Lamar and Derrick Henry still likely to hog red-zone work.
The Case For Jaylen Waddle
- Underdog ADP: 46.4 (WR24)
Jaylen Waddle, in many respects, offers the opposite profile of Flowers. After playing WR1B to Tyreek Hill's WR1A for years, Waddle got a taste of the true WR1 treatment after the Dolphins lost Hill for the year in Week 4. From that point forward, Waddle's target share jumped from 19% to 25%, and the veteran saw 29% of the team's end-zone targets and 43% of the play-action looks, both team highs.
Alas, the Dolphins' offense sucked, leading to just 11.4 expected fantasy points (XFP) per game on the season to go with a WR24 overall finish. To his credit, Waddle bested his XFP with 12.1 fantasy points per game (WR29).
It's been three years since Waddle last cracked a 1,000-yard season, but there aren't many better recipes for a career year than an explosive, former top-10 pick like Waddle securing a prime role in Sean Payton's offense with gunslinger Bo Nix at the helm. People in the building are already gushing over Waddle, who cost the team first- and third-round picks to acquire.
We project Waddle for 122 targets, which would trail only the 140 he earned as a rookie in 2021—when he finished as the WR13. And Waddle beat that finish in 2022 on 117 targets thanks to 1,352 yards and eight scores, finishing as WR8. These feel like floor and ceiling outcomes for Waddle—a steal at WR23 in 2026.
Should You Draft Zay Flowers or Jaylen Waddle In 2026 Fantasy Drafts?
Give me Waddle at cost over Flowers. While the Ravens' shifty WR should pay off his WR14 price tag, there's not much room for more than that within the Baltimore offense.
Waddle offers exceptionally high upside, which he has hit before. The 14 picks between these two receivers is a significant discount, letting you reach half a round for Waddle and still make a profit.
