Most-Chopped Players For Week 4 In Guillotine Leagues™️: Justin Jefferson, Josh Allen & More

Jorge Martin dove into the 10 most-chopped players in Guillotine Leagues heading into Week 4 waiver wire bidding.

Just when we thought that injuries couldn’t have gotten any worse, something happened in Miami that shook up a lot of fantasy teams and got a lot of people chopped in Guillotine LeaguesTM. Welcome to Week 4, when leagues are still sizable at 15 teams, but perhaps it’s time to start loosening the belt on that FAAB budget and start spending.

The main thing is we’re alive, because if you’re reading this it means the blade fell elsewhere in your league. Injuries were the biggest culprit in the most-chopped data this week, with a few obvious ones that we’ll get into shortly.  As always, when picking up players make sure to check out the fantasy football rankings and fantasy football projections to make as informed of decisions as possible.

Week 4 Most-Chopped Players for Guillotine Leagues

De’Von Achane | RB | Dolphins

This one is just gut-wrenching. Such a wonderful player, who in so many ways was an anomaly. Now the Dolphins will have no choice but to put the offense in the hands of Malik Willis. That could be fun for fantasy football, but as far as De'Von Achane is concerned, nothing else need be said. He’s done for the year with a torn ACL.

Drake Maye | QB | Patriots

What did they do to our almost MVP from last season? Drake Maye has just one game where he’s passed for more than 200 yards, and has just 1 TD pass against 6 INTs. That’s a far cry from 4,394 passing yards and 31 TDs last season. It’s hard to advise to put more than even a minimum bid on Maye, because there’s a good argument that currently he’s not among the top 15 QBs needed in a Guillotine League at this point in the season. He’s not anything more than a bench stash until he figures it out.

Justin Jefferson | WR | Vikings

Those early exits are painful. As in getting chopped painful. Justin Jefferson caught both his targets for 32 yards before going to the locker room and never returning. He was diagnosed with a sprained ankle, but there’s a chance he plays this week. That makes a bid so tricky. On the one hand, this is J-Jettas, one of the best WRs in the world. On the other hand, sprained ankles could hinder performance for several weeks. Still on a third hand, just go with it, the Vikings have a home date against the Dolphins’ secondary that just allowed Rashee Rice 7-88-0. Possibly a median bid, but if he’s healthy he could be a steal.

Puka Nacua | WR | Rams

At least fantasy managers didn’t have to wait until Monday Night Football to get the official word that Puka Nacua was going to be inactive. However, since he’s on here, apparently that advanced notice didn’t help. Nacua is not a slam dunk to play this week in Philadelphia, so it’s hard to imagine putting in a heavy bid on him. Still, this is Nacua, and like Jefferson, if he’s healthy and going, he could be the primary reason you survive the chop. Especially if you have a need at the WR or flex positions.

Jadarian Price | RB | Seahawks

Ugh, this one hurts. Dwain McFarland went into detail on weekly Utilization Report Takeaways on what is happening with Jadarian Price. He had double-digit touches in the first two games, but just 6 in Week 3. Yikes! Not the direction we want to be going in for a rookie RB. Head coaches like Mike Macdonald who come from the defensive side of the ball like to run it. But if the Seahawks don’t yet trust Price, this backfield has committee written all over it. Probably best to leave Price for someone else to bid up on him.

Tetairoa McMillan | WR | Panthers

Sigh, and pour one out for the Guillotine managers who got chopped because Tetairoa McMillan dropped a 2-17-0 after drawing 18 targets and turning them into 10-176-0 in the first two games. The stars may be aligning for a sizable bid. Jalen Coker may miss this upcoming game, and the Panthers face the Lions’ secondary that is allowing 326.3 passing yards per game. It’s a good bet he doesn’t get held to 2 catches this week.

Nico Collins | WR | Texans

Like with Nacua, Guillotine managers had to helplessly watch themselves get chopped as Nico Collins sat out the game. The Texans passing game could really use a dose of Collins, after scoring just 23 total points without him the past couple games. They scored 31 with him in Week 1. The Cowboys are on tap to visit Houston, so fantasy managers have to be as “hopeful” as HC DeMeco Ryans is that Collins will be back this week. Zay Flowers just turned 5 catches into 84 scoreless yards in Brazil, so Collins indoors on the fast track would be worth a decent-sized bid if it looks like he’s healthy.

Josh Allen | QB | Bills

Say it ain’t so! Does Josh Allen have to be superhuman every week to help Guillotine managers avoid getting chopped? Apparently. If he’s available in your league, Allen has to be a consideration for a healthy bid. Yes, the book says to not bid high on a QB in Guillotine Leagues. But when one that can take you all the way to Week 17 hits the waiver wire, the book goes out the window. Don’t bid up if you have a good QB, but if you have an underperformer there thus far, it makes sense to take a shot with Allen.

Jaylen Waddle | WR | Broncos

We were on such a good trajectory after Jaylen Waddle put up 8-138-0 in Week 2, but the roller coaster went down as Trent McDuffie and the Rams secondary held the WR to 2-10-0 last week. He still ran 80% of the routes and got a 25% target share, so Waddle is a major part of the offense. A potential shootout in San Francisco—over/under 46.5—should mean more targets going Waddle’s way, so bid accordingly for a WR1 off a down week.

Amon-Ra St. Brown | WR | Lions

Yet another surprise. Even scoring a TD on a day when Amon-Ra St. Brown caught just 4 balls for 19 yards could not salvage the week for Guillotine managers feeling the blade. Don’t overthink this. The Sun God is a lock for double-digit targets almost every week—27 in the first two weeks—and is a threat all over the field, even the red zone. He’s healthy, is the clear WR1 and this is one of the best offenses in the league that is going to get into shootouts on the regular. A trip to Carolina this week should be one of those affairs, and St. Brown deserves a healthy bid.
