Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cleveland Browns Fantasy Football Matchup Breakdown For Week 1

Mix two parts Deshaun Watson with one part Shedeur Sanders and you’ve made yourself one heck of a dangerous quarterback cocktail. Owners of the worst team completion rate (57.9%) and EPA/dropback (-0.25) in the NFL last season, Cleveland would’ve finished their entire 2025 campaign without a single +20-point fantasy performance at QB if not for shooting it out with the lowly Titans in Week 14. 

Sure, Shedeur balled out for (364-3-1; 3-29-1) in that game, and maybe it’s enough to propel him to an eventual starting job. The problem is, it looks like Watson will have to blow this opportunity first — which shouldn’t take long after finishing 31st in fantasy points/game the last time we saw him in action. Woof. 

Cleveland’s now saying sixth-round rookie Taylen Green could get mixed in as soon as this weekend. What?!? There’s bad, and then there’s whatever this is … 

To tempt us even further, the Brownies spent the offseason adding legitimate weapons to their WR room, but how many ways can you sufficiently split a pie that fits in the palm of your hand? Without a proper shepherd, the entire flock is lost.

Of course, there are plenty of reasons to like KC Concepcion or even Denzel Boston, but let me ask you something before you start them this week. How many top-10 positional finishes did CLE wideouts account for in 2025? Whoever shouted out zero from the back of the room is correct. Zero. Zilch. Nada. The number below one.

I’ve gotten so scared of the toxic rot metastasizing deep within the recesses of the Browns’ offensive playbook, I’ve spent this last month essentially handwaving Cleveland players at any ADP. That is, with the exception of Dylan Sampson (huh?), who could represent a weekly flex option from the latest drafting rounds. Desperation is a stinky cologne.

Without Myles Garrett, the Browns could and should spend the entire season trailing, where Sampson tends to excel. The second-year RB out of Tennessee led all NFL RBs who earned +40 targets in both targets/route (28.0%) and yards/route (1.9) ... tied with some guy named Bijan Robinson. 

Quinshon Judkins is definitely talented; I just fear he’s more of a two-down player, destined to get scripted out of games. Start if you must, trade if you’re able, but understand the risks regardless.

Jacksonville Jaguars Fantasy Preview

As far as the Jaguars, who dominated fantasy conversations all summer, I see it more clearly than the crowd apparently — What could possibly go wrong? Let me put it this way, getting back to my dessert analogy. If the Browns’ offense is a single pignoli cookie, the Jags are one of those monster XXL sheet cakes from Costco. Mmmmmm, sheetcake.

What I mean to say is Jacksonville’s collection of skill players feels perfectly constructed regarding archetypal roles. Early down explosive back in Bhayshul Tuten? Check. Short-yardage, success-rate grinder near the paint in Chris Rodriguez? Check. Hyper-athletic, deep threat field-stretcher in Brian Thomas? Check. Undersung intermediate route runner with a history of earning targets in Jakobi Meyers? Check. 

And we can’t forget the pièce de résistance — a hardworking, reliable, yet versatile slot WR who can move around the formation and create matchup nightmares regardless of coverage in Parker Washington. Check and mate …
