Jake Ferguson Proves To Be A Catch As a Top-12 TE In Fantasy Football

Ian Hartitz breaks down the Dallas Cowboys TE situation, including how Jake Ferguson fares with and without top WRs alongside him.

Is there room for a top TE in a high-flying pass-catching group featuring CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens? Some weeks more than others, as Jake Ferguson has found out only too well. Ian Hartitz breaks it down as part of his Dallas Cowboys Team Preview.

Is Jake Ferguson setting up to (again) be a quality late-round TE?

On the one hand, Jake Ferguson's 82-600-8 receiving line was good enough to work as the TE11 in PPR points per game.

On the other hand, he boasted bottom-5 efficiency and largely benefited from averaging 18.6 PPR points per game in four games without Lamb compared to just 9.4 with him.

He's not someone fantasy managers should realistically expect top-5 heights from without major injuries occurring elsewhere, but then again, he's not exactly the world's most expensive tight end at the moment (ADP TE11, pick 125.9).

Still, I struggle to get too excited here in large part because Ferguson (27 years young) is fresh off a season that was pretty rough in terms of yards per route run.

Now, Dak Prescott does indeed have a weird fetish for targeting tightly covered tight ends down the seams? But man, Ferguson projects as far more of a low-end, touchdown-dependent TE1 whenever both of the offense's top 2 receivers are healthy enough to suit up. I've generally been happy to target basically any of the other starting NFC East tight ends a few rounds later in early summer drafts.
