Week 4 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet: TreVeyon Henderson, Zach Ertz and More

Want to win at fantasy football... but don't have the time? Here's your Week 4 cheat sheet! Rankings, projections, azimuths, and more!

SUNDAY MORNING UPDATE! Pretty much every questionable player is reportedly (after a run through Rapoport and Schefter early-morning/late-night tweets) expected to play. Isaiah Likely, Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall, Davante Adams, Chuba Hubbard, Justin Fields, and Darren Waller -- all reportedly good to go! Colston Loveland is the only iffy player expected not to play.

If you want to ask me (and Ian Hartitz) about your players directly, we'll be live on YouTube at 10am ET. We answer a LOT of questions. It's why we have the show!

Now... on to everything else!

I feel like I’m walking into a trap.

In three weeks, we’ve watched five backup QBs play significant snaps for their team. Seven games came down to touchdowns scored in the final three minutes. And we’ve already got our first benching of the season. I want to believe I’ve seen enough to wade into Sunday confident in my roster decisions.

However, it’s only been three weeks.

Before we declare ourselves as ‘ball-knowers,’ the league has plenty of storylines and data to suggest we’ve got plenty to learn. But you’re not alone. With so much information to digest before kickoff, I’ve put together this "cheat sheet" of everything to keep an eye on as you set up your roster. And we'll update this throughout the weekend.

The Latest and Greatest

Washington will be without its QB1 and WR1 against the Falcons. Jayden Daniels got in two limited sessions throughout the week, but the DNP on Friday was the news no one wanted to see. Of course, the guy with a vested interest in the Commanders shared his instant reactions as the news broke:

Luckily, Dwain already adjusted the projections to reflect the duo’s absence. Without them, Deebo Samuel and Zach Ertz get a bump.

The projections don’t provide a lot of hope because of Atlanta’s defense. Ronis and Jorge noted how stifling the Falcons have been for opposing QBs in their injury report:

“The Falcons are giving up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to QBs, with none surpassing 167 passing yards...

"Mariota's rushing upside will help, but the fact that the Falcons have been good against QBs could be a concern for Washington's offense.”

Ertz sits as the TE12 in our consensus ranks after garnering a 16.0% target share in Mariota’s ’25 debut. It’s a drop-off from his usage in the previous two weeks, but Atlanta is allowing the ninth-most PPR PPG to TEs, giving Ertz some appeal in the right format.

And while the Friday news dump raised concerns about Washington, the injury-riddled 49ers got some good news.

Admittedly, I’d wait to slot Jauan Jennings into your lineup. A single limited practice after sitting last week doesn’t give me any conviction regarding his status. But at the same time, we know how productive his role with the 49ers’ passing game has been. Our projections highlight his effectiveness even if he’s not at full strength.

However, we’ve still got time. The team will continue to monitor the news and adjust the ranks as needed. Plus, Ian and I will be live on Sunday morning to pull together all of the latest info to help you make your start/sit decisions.

In the meantime, keep these other skill players in mind when scanning the news ahead of Sunday.

    • Tetairoa McMillan (calf)
  • TEs
    • Isaiah Likely (foot)

The Weather Report

OK, I get it now. The football gods had to balance the scales somehow. We could either get bad weather or a litany of injuries to start the season — I didn’t make the choice. Maybe somebody Ray-Stantz’d the decision and struck a deal with the powers that be. Regardless, Week 4 features another (relatively) clear forecast for football.

  • Game: Jets @ Dolphins
    • Conditions: Wind, 13 mph (max), across the stadium
  • Game: Eagles @ Buccaneers
    • Conditions: Rain, 39.0% chance, 0.02 inches per hour (max)

In any case, I’ll add a few notes here in the event that conditions worsen by Sunday.

I’ve harped on it before, but there are two things to consider when considering wind: speed and direction. In Miami, the speed isn’t the problem. At 13 mph, we’re well below the threshold for concern with respect to any impacts on play volume. However, let’s say the rate picks up. Here’s where the heading has an effect.

I could say something like, “Hard Rock Stadium sits at a 121.8-degree azimuth, which will be orthogonal to the projected wind speed.” Which is true! Instead, let’s keep it simple: the wind will be blowing across the stadium. Even better, I’ll apply it to football: the potential cross breeze could push kicks to the side. However, remember that we’d need the velocity to increase for the airflow to have a significant impact. So, for now, I’m not making any changes to my lineups. The same goes for the other Florida game.

After my scripts pull and process the upcoming week’s forecast data, I’ll check Weather Underground for the hour-by-hour projections. The added context can either heighten or lessen my level of consideration. For the Eagles-Bucs contest, seeing the above puts the rain at the bottom of my list of things to care about during this game.

First of all, you can’t even see a precipitation rate of 0.02 inches per hour on a normal broadcast. Well, until the production crew switches to the field-level cameras, and you can see the droplets on helmets. Regardless, with the clouds not expected to roll in until the backend of the bout, again, any roster decisions with pieces in this game should remain the same.

Exploiting the Ranks: What Should We Do With TreVeyon Henderson?

Every week, I scroll through the ranks, hoping to find a stress point for the squad here at Fantasy Life. After running through the RB tiers, I found one:

I can already hear the fantasy managers with TreVeyon Henderson on their roster.

“Take a stand on the situation!”

Rhamondre [Stevenson] fumbled twice! It’s Hendo SZN!”

And, honestly, I hope we’re wrong here. After earning Day 2 draft capital, Henderson looked electric in the preseason. However, the talent hasn’t translated to production.

  • Rushing Success Rate: 45.5% (Stevenson), 42.1% (Henderson), 38.5% (Gibson)
  • Adjusted Yards after Contact per Rush: 3.77, 2.32, 3.23
  • Forced Missed Tackle Rate: 31.8%, 10.5%, 0.0%

Henderson has lagged well behind the veteran in almost every rushing efficiency metric. Sure, the rookie has edged out Antonio Gibson as the preferred passing-down back, but Stevenson is averaging the same number of targets per game as the former Buckeye (3.7). And Gibson is still getting short-yardage snaps. It’s why their UR Scores don’t paint a clear picture of how best to approach the backfield.

Stevenson gets the goal-line work, while Gibson and Henderson fight over everything else. Yes, we should expect HC Mike Vrabel to dial back Stevenson’s workload after two costly fumbles. But there’s no indication of a full benching. And there’s still Gibson to contend with for touches. At best, we’d be speculating. But at least the defensive matchup lends itself to betting on perceived talent.

I realize the Patriots are hosting the same Panthers’ defense that shut out the Falcons. However, Bijan Robinson still averaged 1.92 adjusted yards before contact against Carolina. He finished fourth in rushing success rate. Henderson’s burst can exploit the same rushing lanes Robinson saw in Week 3. However, without a clear path to touches, we can only hope the Patriots’ rookie can take advantage of his touches and remind New England’s front office why they drafted him.
