Is Amon-Ra St. Brown The Most Consistent WR In Fantasy Football?
Ian Hartitz breaks down the Detroit Lions' WR corps, and whether Amon Ra-St. Brown can continue his fantasy football dominance.
Just when so many people in the NFL community were worrying that the Detroit Lions would take a step back with the departure of Ben Johnson to Chicago, Amon-Ra St. Brown and company reminded everyone that the players were a big part of the Lions' success in the Dan Campbell era. Ian Hartitz breaks it down as part of his Detroit Lions Team Preview.
Are there enough targets for Amon-Ra St. Brown *and* Jameson Williams to boom?
- WR1: Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR4 in Fantasy Life ranks)
- WR2: Jameson Williams (WR26)
- WR3: Isaac TeSlaa (WR83)
- WR4: Greg Dortch
Death, taxes, Amon-Ra St. Brown catching triple-digit passes for well north of 1,000 yards and scoring a lot of touchdowns. The two-time first-team All-Pro has arguably been the most consistent stud receiver in fantasy during the past four seasons. The Sun God hasn't missed!
- 2022: 106 receptions-1,161 yards-6 TD, WR10 in PPR points per game
- 2023: 119-1,515-10, WR4
- 2024: 115-1,263-12, WR4
- 2025: 117-1,401-11, WR4
Three straight seasons as exactly the WR4 in fantasy football. Fantasy Life rankers accordingly have the 26-year-old baller as the consensus … WR4 entering 2026.
And then there's overqualified No. 2 WR Jameson Williams, who possesses the sort of field-stretching ability to strike fear in any corner and is one helluva problem to get to the ground after the catch.
Seriously: I watched every target Williams earned last season and couldn't believe all of the high-end YAC moments that were on tape. Take a look for yourself!
Sadly, style points don't count for anything extra in fantasy football land, and we're looking at a guy with "just" 91 and 102 targets over the past two seasons. Fantasy Life Projections have Williams seeing 95 targets in 2026. That's asking a LOT in the efficiency department to return top-24 production in fantasy land, but hey, if anyone can do it, it's this speedy 25-year-old: Williams joins Alec Pierce and Christian Watson as the NFL's only three players averaging north of 11 yards per target during the past two seasons.
And yet, I just can't quite get Williams up into the top-24 at the position. Other rankers do, and I get it, but we are talking about someone projected for just the 45th-most targets at the position! There's no doubt who the No. 1 receiver is in this offense—and it's not Williams. Hell, it's possible TE Sam LaPorta and/or rising second-year WR Isaac TeSlaa (the man knows how to make a spectacular catch) get more involved.
The presence of LaPorta is especially relevant considering just how uninvolved Williams was in the offense before the tight end's season-ending back injury:
- Williams with LaPorta in Weeks 1-10: 16% target share, 4.6 targets per game, 10.9 PPR points per game (WR33)
- Williams without LaPorta in Weeks 11-18: 21% target share, 7 targets per game, 15.2 PPR points per game (WR9)
There will be booms, but they could be hard to predict: I'm higher on receivers like Terry McLaurin, Rome Odunze, Emeka Egbuka and Christian Watson, who have superior potential to actually work as their offense's No. 1 pass-game option.
Also note: Isaac TeSlaa's aforementioned special contested-catch ability is great and all, but we're still looking at a guy who earned just 27 targets in 17 games. He's more of a late-round best-ball dart and future waiver wire option should either of the team's top two receivers miss time … Longtime short king/ex-Cardinals WR Greg Dortch is replacing Kalif Raymond (now on the Bears) as the Lions' No. 4 WR/ace return man. Does Dortch have any hope of offering high-end fantasy value in 2026? Of course not. Will I forever stan him anyway? Absolutely. The dude is a fun YAC threat who once supplied one of the greatest pictures of all time. Hell yeah, brother.
