Last-Minute Week 3 Fantasy Football Lineup Advice

Lots to discuss before you set your lineup today. Let’s get right to it …

1) The “best” game of the week is tricky.

The Baltimore/Dallas game should theoretically produce a ton of fantasy points. It has the highest total (53.5) of any game today, but there are lots of factors that make it tricky.

For one, the field at Maracanã Stadium in Brazil is a mess with visible patches and an uneven feel.

The other big issue? Zay Flowers seems legitimately questionable with his hamstring injury and could be on a snap count. This is a late game, so you’ll need a contingency plan if you plan on starting him. Rashod Bateman is the preferred fill-in, but consult our ranks for other viable options. Guys like Devaughn Vele or Michael Wilson would be decent subs who also play late.

2) 2 Key QBs are back.

Yes, we lost Jayden Daniels, Jaxson Dart, and Caleb Williams, but we are getting back Kyler Murray and Sam Darnold today. Matthew has one of them as a top-15 play. If you are familiar with Ride or Die lore, you should be able to guess which one.

3) Sneaky starts in the Buffalo/Los Angeles game.

The Chargers have been a dumpster fire for the first two weeks, but there are some reasons for optimism today, even in a tough road matchup vs. the Bills.

Ladd McConkey appears fully healthy and is a low-end WR1. And if you need a TE streamer, Oronde Gadsden looks pretty nice. As Matthew notes here, the Chargers rank top 10 in TE target share so far, and both David Njoku and Charlie Kolar are out. We just need to avoid any nepo throws to TE Patrick Herbert.

On the Bills side, both DJ Moore and Keon Coleman are unfortunately game-time decisions, which means Khalil Shakir is a sneaky play if you are in a pinch.

A few other quick hitters …

  • Jonah Coleman—everyone’s favorite Week 3 Waiver Add—is headed to IR with a high ankle sprain. Both J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey are good to go, though.
  • Adonai Mitchell seems legitimately questionable with his finger injury. He was seen wearing something resembling an oven mitt at practice on Friday. I wouldn’t count on him, personally.
  • I know everyone is excited about Jameis Winston chucking to Malik Nabers (not on the injury report, btw), but that Giants game is in the thick of this Nor’easter and could have some crazy rain/wind.
  • Brock Bowers is expected to play. You have to start him if he’s active, but make sure you have a late-game contingency plan just in case (Michael Mayer or someone like Cade Otton or T.J. Hockenson) since we won’t know officially until 3 PM ET.
