Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Kimani Vidal, Harold Fannin Jr. and More

Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Kimani Vidal, Harold Fannin Jr. and More

Who are the best waiver wire adds as we head into Week 7 of the fantasy football season? Kimani Vidal, Harold Fannin, and more.

If you're looking for our Week 8 waiver wire adds, you can find the column here!

Week 6 brought us high highs... and very low lows. Did the injury gods give us a break from the carnage? NOPE. But did we get some big games from fantasy players we had been waiting on? ABSOLUTELY. We finally saw Tetairoa McMillan score not one, but two touchdowns on Sunday, and we also got a Brian Thomas Jr. game we can be proud of!

Yes, I'm definitely going to focus on the positives here because the injuries continue to pile up across the NFL.

Fantasy managers were without Quentin Johnston and Kyler Murray before kickoff and some of us had to battle through key injuries to Puka Nacua and Marvin Harrison Jr., among others. On top of all that, the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills will be on bye in Week 7. Also, not trying to scare you or anything, but Bye-Maggedon is on the horizon. In Week 8 we will have six teams on a bye, which will be the most all season. Make sure to take a look at players you could be without and plan accordingly. It's so important heading into this waiver wire week to try and be a week ahead. Of course, we have a weekly column on how to prep for the byes — this last week's got into early Bye-Mageddon planning, Week 7's will likely dive deeper.

All rostership percentages are from Yahoo. Also, don't forget our Waiver Wire Tool, which will have even more targets and FAAB suggestions every week.

Let's set a sad little table with...

Week 6 NFL Injuries

  • Emari Demercado (ankle)
  • Marvin Harrison Jr. (concussion)
  • David Njoku (knee)
  • Puka Nacua (ankle)
  • Blake Corum (ankle)
  • Garrett Wilson (hip)
  • Calvin Ridley (hamstring)
  • Miles Sanders (season-ending surgery)
  • Emeka Egbuka (hamstring)

Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds

Kimani Vidal, RB, Chargers (27% rostered)

There were reports before kickoff that Hassan Haskins would be the lead back for the Chargers in Week 6 … and that turned out to be completely untrue. Kimani Vidal led the backfield with 18 carries and 124 rushing yards while also tacking on three receptions for 14 yards. Ian Rapoport reported that the Chargers have been actively calling teams around the league for running back help, either for a depth piece or a starter.

It was also reported that Omarion Hampton will likely miss more than four games with his stint on IR. UGH. This is a complete guess by me, but the Chargers have a bye in Week 12, so maybe we don't see Hampton again until Week 13. We'll see if they lock down a trade before the Nov. 4 deadline, but for right now it looks like Vidal is the running back to target on this team.

Important note on how different all the platforms are — Vidal is rostered in 27% of Yahoo leagues but 56% of CBS Leagues — which is still a good amount of availability, but sets you up for a very different waiver wire depending on where you play.

Tez Johnson, WR, Buccaneers (1% rostered)

Emeka Egbuka is expected to miss some time with his hamstring injury, and that means we need to look at the next players up in the depth chart. Mike Evans SHOULD be back for Week 7, but Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson and Kameron Johnson are other options to turn to on the waiver wire.

I want to highlight Tez here. According to Dwain McFarland's Utilization Report, Johnson had a season-high 84% route participation in Week 6. Look to him as a WR5 until we see a healthier Egbuka or Godwin return.

Jordan Whittington, WR, Rams (1% rostered)

Puka Nacua is considered day-to-day with an ankle injury, and while we know Davante Adams will get the biggest boost here, Jordan Whittington is also someone to consider on waivers. He had three receptions for 23 yards on Sunday. He also had a season-high 86% route participation with both Nacua and Tutu Atwell out.

Kayshon Boutte, WR, Patriots (7% rostered)

Can we just take a moment to shout out Drake Maye and what we've been seeing from him? On Sunday he joined Patrick Mahomes, Dak Prescott, and Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks aged 23 or younger with 200+ pass yards and a 100+ passer rating in 5 consecutive games.

Kayshon Boutte caught five passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns — all for 26.3 fantasy points. Should we expect two touchdowns every week? No, but Maye has shown that he is one of the top quarterbacks in the league right now and the Patriots take on the Titans in Week 7. Sign me up for Maye raising the play level for all his receivers.

Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Browns (25% rostered)

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters that David Njoku suffered a knee injury during the game. His status for Week 7 against the Dolphins is in question, which means we have to look at the next guy up ... and that would be Harold Fannin Jr. The Dolphins are a team we want to pick on. Especially because players aren't even showing up to meetings anymore??! Fannin finished Sunday with seven receptions for 81 yards and would be a tight end to target against Miami.

Elic Ayomanor, WR, Titans (22% rostered)

Calvin Ridley was ruled out on Sunday due to a hamstring injury and while this isn't the sexiest offense to target, it feels only right to at least highlight the rookie Elic Ayomanor here.

It won't be the easiest matchup against the Patriots — New England might have allowed the Saints to score on all four of their first-half drives, but they locked down New Orleans in the second half. Target Ayomanor if you need a flier in Week 7.

Jaydon Blue, RB, Cowboys (16% rostered)

Unfortunately, Miles Sanders had season-ending surgery on his left knee and will miss the remainder of the season. Sanders was dealing with a knee injury throughout training camp but played in the first four games—he had 117 yards on 20 carries. We know this is Javonte Williams' backfield, but this is why we always stress how important handcuffs are in fantasy football. We never want injuries, but if Williams went down then Blue would immediately step into a bigger role. He had only three carries on Sunday, but he still holds value as a stash on your bench.

Kendre Miller, RB, Saints (31% rostered)

Alvin Kamara has been at the center of trade rumors for weeks now, but over the weekend it seemed like Kamara and the Saints shut that all down. According to Ian Rapoport, Kamara told Saints general manager Mickey Loomis that he'd like to stay with the franchise through the rest of his career. Even if Kamara doesn't get traded, he's already been dealing with an ankle injury and could be a player the team decides to pull back later in the year if the Saints continue to lose.

You've seen Kendre Miller's name in this article a lot, but it's because his utilization has improved every week. Pick him up and stash him on your bench if available.

Zay Jones, WR, Cardinals (1% rostered)

Concussions are a little bit tricky to predict; hopefully we see Marvin Harrison Jr. back on the field for Week 7. If we don't then a deep add could be Zay Jones, who had the second-most receptions for the Cardinals on Sunday, coming down with five receptions for 79 yards. We'll also need to see if Kyler Murray is able to return next week, but if not at least we saw production from Jacoby Brissett. The bad news: the Cardinals are facing a tough Packers defense in Week 7, hence why Zay Jones is merely a desperation play if Harrison is out.

Zonovan (Bam) Knight, RB, Cardinals (13% rostered)

What are we even doing here?! Before kickoff of Week 7, there were reports saying that Bam Knight was expected to take on a bigger workload against the Colts. Those reports turned out to be somewhat true as we saw much more work this week from Knight. He had 11 carries (compared to Michael Carter's nine) for 34 yards and one touchdown. He also got involved through the air, catching one pass for 20 receiving yards.

Bryce Young, QB, Panthers (21% rostered)

That's THE Carolina Panthers to us! This is very much a product of the Panthers facing a horrific Cowboys defense, but a win is a win. Bryce Young finished the day with 199 passing yards and three touchdowns (two to Tetairoa McMillan) to help Carolina reach .500 for the first time in nearly four years.

The Jets won't be the easiest team to face, but they're coming back from London after an absolute stinker against the Broncos. If desperate then load Young into your lineups.

Michael Penix Jr., QB, Falcons (22% rostered)

The Falcons take on the Bills on Monday Night Football, but I want to shout him out here because of the bye weeks coming. He finished Week 4 completing 20 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns. More importantly, this team has already had their bye so if you are really looking ahead and have maybe Kyler Murray, Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford or Sam Darnold as your quarterbacks (all have a Week 8 bye) then stash Penix before your leaguemates do.

Other Players To Consider Adding:

  1. Kendrick Bourne, WR, 49ers
  2. Oronde Gadsden, TE, Chargers
  3. Josh Downs, WR, Colts
  4. Ollie Gordon, RB, Dolphins
  5. Emanuel Wilson, RB, Packers
  6. Jayden Higgins, WR, Texans
