Fantasy Football Rankings Risers & Fallers: Emeka Egbuka Falls In Matthew Berry's Rankings Update

Matthew Berry recently updated his half-PPR rankings for 2026. Who are the biggest risers and fallers?

Published Updated

The third weekend of August is already here, which means we're in the heat of draft season. And just as drafts are happening more frequently, fantasy football rankings are changing more than ever.

Injuries are starting to pile up, and players are starting to stand out. Let's run through the biggest risers and fallers, as well as some quick notes on notable movers in Matthew Berry's rankings update.

Risers in Matthew Berry's Fantasy Football Rankings

Biggest overall risers in Berry's latest update to his half-PPR rankings:

  1. Keenan Allen (WR, IND): 148 overall (+78)
  2. MarShawn Lloyd (RB, GB): 154 overall (+49)
  3. Tank Dell (WR, HOU): 149 overall (+36)
  4. Jaylin Noel (WR, HOU): 205 overall (+34)
  5. Pat Bryant (WR, DEN): 193 overall (+32)

In what felt like an inevitable pairing for the better part of the offseason, Keenan Allen signed with the Colts on a one-year deal to shore up a thin wide receiver room. Sure, he's entering his age-34 season, but Allen has proven that at the very least, he's still capable of being a thorn in the side of fantasy managers. In what was supposed to be Ladd McConkey's sophomore breakout in 2025, it was the 33-year-old Allen who led the Chargers wide receiver room in targets (23%) and targets per route run (25%).

Now with the Colts, Allen is likely to mildly impact Josh Downs' ceiling (Dwain docked his routes by 2%, targets by 1% and TDs by 1%), but all indications are the Colts want Downs on the field more. We could see Allen move to the outside a bit more if Alec Pierce (who was finally spotted doing individual workouts) trends towards missing (or being limited in) Week 1. In what is still a thin WR room, Allen is a decent play as a WR5 with modest upside and a reasonable floor.

McConkey didn't move up as much as a lot of other risers in terms of overall rankings, but jumping from WR20 to WR17 is a significant move in the early rounds of drafting.

One of Matthew Berry's Ride or Die finalists for 2026, McConkey is just a year removed from a 24% target share as a rookie and is now free of Keenan Allen's 23% target share from last season. The injection of Mike McDaniel and his 78% pass rate in 11-personnel into this offense and the vision of a McConkey breakout gets clearer and clearer. With Emeka Egbuka dropping five spots in Berry's top-20 wide receiver rankings, McConkey was the biggest beneficiary, jumping from WR20 to WR17.

I'm bullish on this Chargers offense, and with the injuries impacting this pocket of wide receivers (Egbuka, Luther Burden), McConkey is a great click as an upside WR2.

Fallers In Matthew Berry's 2026 Fantasy Rankings

Biggest overall fallers in Berry's latest update to his half-PPR rankings:

  1. Jordyn Tyson (WR, NO): 116 overall (-51)
  2. Tre Tucker (WR, LV): 201 overall (-40)
  3. Germie Bernard (WR, PIT): 218 overall (-40)
  4. Alvin Kamara (RB, NO): 194 overall (-35)
  5. Malik Washington (WR, MIA): 230 overall (-29)

This was an obvious one. Jordyn Tyson is slated to miss at least two months with a hamstring injury—his third in the last 10 months (h/t Draftsharks)...

This has sent shivers down spines and Tyson down the rankings, as there's no guarantee that he returns before the Saints' Week 8 bye. Despite the oozing talent and target-earning ability, he's an auto-fade until his ADP settles more into the Round 10-11 range, where he makes sense in IR-friendly formats like Yahoo.

TB_buccaneers-logo.svgEmeka Egbuka Drops To WR21 In Berry's Rankings

I mentioned Emeka Egbuka dropping five spots in Berry's WR rankings, down from WR16 to WR21. This is a frustrating one, as there had been so much optimism and buzz around an Egbuka Year 2 breakout with Mike Evans out of town. We saw his target-earning ability at the beginning of last season. From Weeks 1 through 5, Egbuka was the WR3 in half-PPR scoring (17.6 PPG) with a 23% target share and 21% targets per route run.

We also saw the injury bug take it away from us, as a Grade 1 hamstring strain in Week 6 turned the rest of his season into mush. While his current injury is unrelated, he's dealing with a sprained toe after being rolled up on during a joint practice.

There's been little clarity from the Bucs about his timeline. HC Todd Bowles described him as both day-to-day and week-to-week ... the same coach who said Bucky Irving, who reported for Day 1 of Training Camp, would be out until "sometime in the summer or fall". Taking a slightly conservative approach with Egbuka is smart, but I'm buying any ADP dip that comes from this ambiguity, knowing the upside we get when he's on the field.
