Week 4 Fantasy Football Injury Report: Terry McLaurin, Jayden Daniels, Davante Adams Updates and More

Week 4 Fantasy Football Injury Report: Terry McLaurin, Jayden Daniels, Davante Adams Updates and More

Adam Ronis and Jorge Martin present injuries going into Week 4 that are impacting fantasy football, including Terry McLaurin, Jayden Daniels and Davante Adams.

It’s Week 4. Yes, you blinked and this happened. Try not to blink so quickly or else we’ll have Halloween decorations up all over next time you look up. If you have CeeDee Lamb and Mike Evans, we’re sorry. More on them below.

This week we have some quarterbacks who we’ll be following, especially in matchups that could be advantageous. Yes, these injuries are no fun. But we’re here to help. Here is the Injury Report for Week 4, with some analysis to help you get ready to set your lineup. Let’s get that W!

Week 4 Fantasy Football Injury Report

Quarterback

Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders)

Daniels was limited in practice on Thursday after missing last week due to a knee injury. The indication is Daniels will play against the Falcons this week. If Daniels is out, Marcus Mariota is a good streaming option due to his rushing ability. The Falcons are giving up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to QBs, with none surpassing 167 passing yards. UPDATE: Daniels was ruled OUT on Friday. Same for his top pass catcher (more on him below). Mariota gets a REVENGE GAME against the Falcons, for whatever that is worth. Mariota's rushing upside will help, but the fact that the Falcons have been good against QBs could be a concern for Washington offense.

Justin Fields (New York Jets)

Fields missed last week with a concussion and coach Aaron Glenn said Fields will start if he’s cleared from concussion protocol. He has yet to be cleared from the concussion protocol. Fields was back at practice on Thursday and was listed as a full participant. The Jets play Monday night in Miami. The Dolphins have allowed the second most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. UPDATE: Fields was a full practice participant for the second day in a row. On Saturday he was cleared to play in Week 4. This is a great spot for him. Look to start him.

Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers)

Purdy is progressing toward playing on Sunday after practicing on a limited basis the first two days of the week. That is good news, because Mac Jones got a knee injury last week and looked iffy to play this week. The matchup against the Jaguars is not perfect, as they have allowed 204 or fewer passing yards in two of three games. It’s a home game, and Ricky Pearsall may be the only prominent pass catcher who could be trusted in fantasy. UPDATE: HC Kyle Shanahan declared that Purdy is back as the starter under center for the 49ers. This is a lift for Pearsall and the entire 49ers offense. Purdy is playable, though look at the other options in case you've been platooning at QB on your squad.

Running Back

Jaylen Warren (Pittsburgh Steelers)

The Steelers RB popped up on the injury report late in the week with a knee issue. That's extra concerning because Jaylen Warren has been operating as the No. 1 back for Pittsburgh, and it shows in his 78 UR Score. Adam Schefter reported that Warren was going to play after all, so this was all just a minor scare. The Vikings are 10th in fewest fantasy points allowed to RBs, though Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier combined to rush for 219 yards in Week 2. Get up early (especially those on the West Coast) to make sure that Warren is starting in the game with a 9:30 a.m. ET start time.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Washington Commanders)

Bill didn’t practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday, as he’s dealing with a knee injury. He was on the field during warmups and did some work with the rehab staff. He was wearing a sleeve on his left leg. If Croskey-Merritt is out, Chris Rodriguez Jr. will be the early-down back with Jeremy McNichols on passing downs. Update: Bill practiced on Friday and the reports were good. The Commanders could use all the healthy skill-position players they can muster in what is becoming an increasingly tough road matchup. The Falcons were did give up 73 rushing yards to Chuba Hubbard last week. The touch split in Washington is concerning. Bill may have to be only a deep-league play this week.

Tyrone Tracy (New York Giants)

Tracy dislocated his shoulder last week against the Chiefs and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. Cam Skattebo will be the featured back and upgrades to RB2 territory. He rushed for 60 yards on 10 carries with a TD and caught six of eight targets for 61yards. The Fantasy Life consensus rankings have him at No. 15 for Week 4. The Chargers are second in fewest points allowed to RBs, though Skattebo did do his damage last week against what has been a staunch KC run defense.

Wide Receiver

Davante Adams (Los Angeles Rams)

After a pair of DNPs to start the practice week off, there is growing concern that Adams may have to sit out what should be a high-scoring game against the Colts at SoFi Stadium. This is a situation that will get updates up to Sunday, as Adams has a history of hamstring injuries. He missed three games in 2020 with the injury, and also missed three games last year—though the “injury” coincided with him working to get traded out of Las Vegas. . The Colts are 19th, allowing 31.7 fantasy points to WRs. Troy Franklin went 8-89-1 against them in Week 2. UPDATE: Adams was limited in practice on Friday and is expected to play on Sunday. Keep in mind the Rams-Colts are in the late window, so you'll still need to keep an eye on the afternoon inactives just in case he sits. This is a beatable matchup, and indoors will make this game a potential shootout.

Mike Evans (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Evans has a low-grade left hamstring injury and is expected to miss multiple weeks. Evans has a history of hamstring injuries and missed three games last year with a right hamstring injury. Emeka Egbuka will take on a bigger role and Chris Godwin could make his return this week, although he likely would be limited if he plays.

Chris Godwin (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Speaking of Godwin, he followed a full practice Wednesday with a DNP on Thursday. Not a good sign that he’ll have much of a role, if he’s activated at all on Sunday. A situation to follow, but be ready to play Egbuka in just about every format. UPDATE: Godwin got in two full practice sessions sandwiched around a rest day. It's looking like he's going to play. Now, would it make sense for the Bucs to ease him back into action? Probably. Unless your roster has a deep need because of injury, it's probably best to sit Godwin this week and get ready to fire him up in the near future.

Jauan Jennings (San Francisco 49ers)

Jennings sat out last week and has missed the first two practices of the week. He is listed with an ankle and shoulder injury. The Friday practice will be key. Jennings didn’t practice at all last week and didn’t play. UPDATE: Jennings practiced for the first time since getting hurt in Week 2. This would be an iffy play to start him this week. If you have another option, probably best to go with that player instead of Jennings this week.

CeeDee Lamb (Dallas Cowboys)

Lamb suffered a high-ankle sprain in the first quarter last week and tried to return before leaving after one play. The timetable for his return isn’t clear. George Pickens and Jake Ferguson get upgraded and Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin can be considered in deeper formats.

Terry McLaurin (Washington Commanders)

Terry McLaurin missed another practice on Thursday due to a quad injury and is expected to miss this week and potentially longer. He was expected to seek a second opinion with a specialist. Luke McCaffrey would be an option in deeper formats if McLaurin is out. UPDATE: Scary Terry missed his third practice of the week and is going to sit. Yes, that should shift targets primarily to Deebo Samuel, who would benefit from ace cornerback A.J. Terrell already being ruled out with a hamstring injury. Deebo may be the only "safe" play in this tough road matchup with Mariota at the helm. And for those thinking Zach Ertz could be an option, the Falcons are the toughest defense against TEs in the early part of this season.

Alec Pierce (Indianapolis Colts)

Pierce suffered a concussion last week and missed the first two practices of the week. It’s likely Pierce will be out this week. Adonai Mitchell would get upgraded if Pierce cannot play. UPDATE: Pierce has been ruled out. Mitchell is a dart throw as a dart throw because of his ability to win deep. At best, he's the No. 4 option in the passing game.

Jaylen Waddle (Miami Dolphins)

Waddle was limited in practice Thursday due to a shoulder injury. Waddle was on the injury report last week for the same injury and played on Thursday against the Bills and had five catches for 39 yards with a touchdown. Waddle is expected to play on Monday night against the Jets. UPDATE: Waddle's playing.

Xavier Worthy (Kansas City Chiefs)

Worthy was a full practice participant the first two days of the week. That’s the good news. What may be bad news is that with him essentially missing three games, it might take him time to ramp up with the offense. UPDATE: Worthy is expected to play on Sunday, which will be a boost to the KC offense. While he may not have full route participation, he could be on the field long enough for Patrick Mahomes to take some deep shots with him. He may be "worth" a flier.

Tight End

Evan Engram (Denver Broncos)

After missing last week due to a back injury, Engram was back at practice on Thursday. It’s a good sign since the Broncos play Monday night against the Bengals and it’s the first practice of the week. Engram played 34% and 43% of the snaps in the first two weeks and hasn’t been involved in the offense. Do not start him.

Colston Loveland (Chicago Bears)

The No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft did not practice the first two days, which may mean he’s sitting out this week. That’s tough, as the Week 3 breakout for Caleb Williams may leave Loveland behind the other players who are getting more in sync with the quarterback. At best Loveland is a stash for later in the season, or a target for dynasty players looking to next year. UPDATE: Loveland is expected to sit this game out. Fire up those trade offers in dynasty leagues.

Michael Mayer (Las Vegas Raiders)

The Notre Dame product has missed both practices to start the week while in the concussion protocol. We’ll monitor this situation, but with Brock Bowers getting healthier, and Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker seemingly ahead of him in the target pecking order, Mayer is really only a very deep-league play when healthy. UPDATE: Mayer has been ruled out for Sunday.
