Week 6 Fantasy Football Injury Report: Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson and More Updates

Week 6 Fantasy Football Injury Report: Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson and More Updates

Adam Ronis and Jorge Martin provide updates for the Week 6 Fantasy Football Injury Report, led by Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson and many more updates.

What are we to believe? Xavier Worthy practiced in full alongside the entire Chiefs roster on Wednesday. That's rare any week in an NFL season. Then Worthy sat out practice a day later. What is to be believed? The second-year speedster has drawn 17 targets, 11 catches and 172 all-purpose yards in his two games back from a shoulder injury in the season opener. The Chiefs offense certainly looks better with Worthy on the field. As of now there is no indication that the Chiefs could sit this very important receiver just as he’s lighting a fire under the offense. WE DID GET A FRIDAY UPDATE: Worthy returned to a full practice, making Thursday look like a rest day. The Lions are allowing the seventh-most yards to wide receivers, so this game with the highest total of the week at 52.5 points could see some fireworks.

We’ll have to monitor plenty of situations facing fantasy managers in Week 6.

Week 6 Fantasy Football Injury Report

Quarterback

Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens)

After missing last week due to a hamstring injury, Lamar Jackson has yet to practice this week. The Ravens have a bye next week and there’s a good chance Jackson is out to give him an extra two weeks to return. Cooper Rush started last week and the Ravens offense was bad. It’s another tough matchup against the Rams, who have a formidable front four. UPDATE: Jackson was ruled out on Friday. This, and the potential for weather in this game make it hard to recommend many Ravens. The Rams are No. 2 in fewest fantasy points allowed to running backs, which really hurts the outlook of Derrick Henry. Rush struggled against the solid Texans D, being intercepted three times and passing for only 179 yards. This is a downgrade to Zay Flowers and all the Ravens pass catchers. Jackson fantasy managers, the best you can hope for is to have a good backup for this week and next, and

Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals)

Kyler Murray didn’t practice for the second straight day on Thursday due to a foot injury. Murray injured the foot last week against the Titans, left briefly and returned to finish the game. The Friday practice will be key for determining whether Murray can play against the Colts. If Murray is out, Jacoby Brissett will start. UPDATE: Murray got in a limited practice on Friday, but HC Jonathan Gannon was not definitive on if Murray would start in Week 6. Reports on Saturday evening surfaced that Murray was trending toward sitting. Brissett is set to start, and Marvin Harrison Jr. fantasy managers will be watching closely how many passes come his way. No word yet on if Murray's injury could be multiple weeks.

Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers)

Brock Purdy missed last week due to a toe injury and has yet to practice this week. It appears Purdy will miss another week, putting Mac Jones in line to make another start. Jones practiced on a limited basis after he was injured at the end of the Week 5 victory over the Rams. UPDATE: The 49ers starter was ruled out Friday, though Mac Jones was more than capable running the show for HC Kyle Shanahan. The Bucs are seventh in most fantasy points allowed to QBs and are fresh off getting picked apart by Sam Darnold. Jones could be a good streamer or DFS option.

Running Back

Chuba Hubbard (Carolina Panthers)

After missing every practice last week and missing the game, Chuba Hubbard has started the week missing the first two practices due to a calf injury. With Hubbard out last week, Rico Dowdle exploded for 206 yards on 23 carries with a TD and three catches for 28 yards. It’s unlikely Hubbard returns this week and Dowdle gets a great matchup in a revenge game against the Cowboys. The Fantasy Life consensus rankings are high on Dowdle. UPDATE: Hubbard is out, so this is Dowdle's backfield in a "revenge" game that we've covered already.

Bucky Irving (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

After missing the first two practices of the week, Bucky Irving is trending toward missing his second straight game. Rachaad White would have a similar load that brought him an RB7 finish in Week 5. UPDATE: As expected, Irving is out. White could do some damage through the air, as the 49ers are allowing 5.4 RB receptions per game, 27th in the league.

Jaylen Warren (Pittsburgh Steelers)

He was a late scratch in the game in Ireland, so we have kept an eye on Jaylen Warren. He’s practiced the first two days of the week. It’s looking like he’ll take back his lead RB role that saw him get a UR score of 87 in Week 3

Wide Receiver

Quentin Johnston (Los Angeles Chargers)

SATURDAY UPDATE: After practicing on a limited basis all three days, reports on Saturday came out that Quentin Johnston is going to miss Week 6 with a hamstring injury. This is a blow to the Chargers offense and to fantasy managers who had be rewarded with one of the top finds on the waiver wire after Week 1. This upgrades Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen, as they face a Miami defense that while it is allowing the seventh fewest fantasy points to WRs (29.1), Tetairoa McMillan (6-73-0) and Garrett Wilson (6-82-1) have had good games against the Dolphins in the past two weeks.

CeeDee Lamb (Dallas Cowboys)

CeeDee Lamb didn’t practice on Thursday and the indication is he will miss another game. It will be the third consecutive game Lamb would be out with a high-ankle sprain. Since the Cowboys didn’t place Lamb on injured reserve, the expectation is he will return in Week 7. Reporters say Lamb is progressing well. UPDATE: Lamb is out for a fourth game in a row, and word is that he could return in Week 7. George Pickens has been elevated to WR8 in our rankings, though keep an eye on the weather in Carolina for this game.

Terry McLaurin (Washington Commanders)

Terry McLaurin didn’t practice again on Thursday. He was seen working on the side with trainers. The Commanders don’t play until Monday, so there’s still time for McLaurin to play. McLaurin hasn’t played since Sept. 21 due to a quad injury. UPDATE: McLaurin is sitting for a third straight game. Combined with the news on the next player, that could be devastating for the Commanders.

Deebo Samuel (Washington Commanders)

Deebo Samuel didn’t practice Thursday due to a heel injury. Samuel didn’t practice last week yet still played on Sunday and had 8 catches for 96 yards with a TD. Washington plays Monday night and he’s expected to play. With Terry McLaurin likely out again, Samuel is high in the consensus rankings. UPDATE: Samuel has been deemed the dreaded "game-time decision" by HC Dan Quinn. With the game being Monday night, that could be difficutl. On the same team, Luke McCaffrey could be a dart worth throwing. With two games on MNF, there could be other options available if there is a late rule out.

Mike Evans (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

The veteran has not practiced the first two days after not practicing at all and missing the last two games. This one is looking like another missed game with a hamstring injury. UPDATE: Mike Evans was ruled out for the third game in a row. Coincidentally, Evans played 14 games last year on the way to extending his streak of 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons. He may need to return next week to have another shot.

Chris Godwin (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Chris Godwin sat out the first two practice sessions of the week, a surprise after he’d played the last two weeks. A lower-leg injury is a concern, as Godwin suffered a season-ending ankle injury. This is going to be watched closely through Friday’s practice report. If he can’t play, Emeka Egbuka becomes an even greater play after he’s gone over 100 yards and scored a TD in each of the past two games. UPDATE: Godwin was ruled out for the week with this "new" injury to his fibula. We'll keep an eye on the practice reports next week to see if this is a one-week thing, though keep in mind the Bucs have a bye in Week 9. In case it makes sense to keep him out that long. Egbuka needs to be started everywhere.

Darnell Mooney (Atlanta Falcons)

Darnell Mooney didn’t practice on Thursday with a hamstring injury. With the Falcons playing Monday against the Bills, this is the first practice of the week. Mooney suffered the injury when the team last played on Sept. 28. The early expectation was he would play, but the next two practices will be telling. UPDATE: Mooney will sit out this week, his second of the season. It's curious that he's out coming off the bye, though that shows the severity of his hamstring injury. This just places more focus on Drake London, our consensus WR6 in rankings.

Ricky Pearsall (San Francisco 49ers)

Ricky Pearsall missed last week with a knee injury and hasn’t practiced the first two days of the week. Coach Kyle Shanahan indicated he didn’t expect Pearsall to play this week. More on the next player. UPDATE: Pearsall is officially sitting. This is becoming a disturbing trend, as it's adding to his growing injury history in just his second year.

Jauan Jennings (San Francisco 49ers)

Jennings returned to practice on a limited fashion on Thursday. That’s a sign that he may go, which would be good for Jones and the 49ers offense. Even after Kendrick Bourne had his massive day in Week 5, Jennings would be a welcomed addition to the San Francisco attack. The Buccaneers are 13th in most passing yards allowed per game thus far. UPDATE: Jennings practiced on a limited basis for the second straight day Friday and is questionable. Keep an eye on the 49ers inactives, because this game is kicking off at 4:25 p.m. ET. It's at least a good sign that he did not get ruled out while Pearsall already did. If Jennings plays this week, he'll be in a good spot opposite Kendrick Bourne and facing that

Tight End

Brock Bowers (Las Vegas Raiders)

The consensus TE1 in this year’s ADP is looking like he’ll have to wait another week, as Brock Bowers sat for the second consecutive practice. With the Raiders facing a bye in Week 8, it might make sense to hold Bowers out until after the respite. Michael Mayer will likely start at TE, but he’s not Bowers. UPDATE: Bowers sat Friday and will miss his second straight game after battling a knee injury since Week 1. At this point, it could make sense to hold him out through the Raiders' Week 8 bye so that he's fully healed. The offense is plenty rough with Geno Smith enduring struggles. Ashton Jeanty will remain the focal point of the offense. Mayer is going to return from his concussion, but hopefully you have better options on your waiver wire.

Dalton Kincaid (Buffalo Bills)

Kincaid was limited in practice on Thursday due to an oblique injury. He was wearing a red non-contact jersey. The Bills play the Falcons on Monday night, so this isn’t a concern yet since it’s the first practice of the week. UPDATE: Have a backup plan for Monday night (Kyle Pitts?). As of now, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic is projecting the inactives for their game in Atlanta and did not have Kincaid listed.
